"I SURVIVED ON SCRAPS, CANNED FOOD, COCKROACHES, ANYTHING I COULD FIND," Five-spoke chuckling dryly. Both teenagers were now holding a cup of coffee while he spoke. Harper was listening to his words closely, she never would have imagined the world to end this soon. She assumed they'd have a thousand or so years before the humans finally destroyed the plant.

"You know that rumor that Twinkies have an endless shelf life? Well, it's total bullshit," he spoke again. Holding up his coffee briefly before moving it down again. All while Harper took a large gulp out of her own cup, coming to the conclusion that mixing bourbon into the drink could improve its taste greatly.

"I can't even imagine," The woman, whose name Harper learned to be Vanaya, told him. She was looking at Five in a mixture of concern and worry, her hands folded in front of her as she focused her attention on her brother.

"You do whatever it takes to survive, or you die. So we adapted. Whatever the world threw at us, we found a way to overcome it," Five told the duo. Harper's eyebrow upturning at the use of the word 'we'. She couldn't help but question who else he was with and where they were now.

It seemed like Vanya had the same question as she quietly spoke again, "We?"

"Do you have anything stronger?" Five questions instead, ignoring Vanya's question.

Blinking in surprise, the older women nodded slightly. Standing up from her couch once again and moving to grab the bottle she had been saving for a special occasion, although she assumed this occasion was better than any other.

Still resting on the couch, Harper dug through the pockets of her leather jacket she had stolen from the eldest Salvatore in hopes of finding the flask she found there previously. Her fingers gripping around the familiar medal after only a second and pulling it out with a lazy grin. Happily unscrewing the cap and taking a large gulp before offering it to the boy across from her.

Eyeing the flask suspiciously for a moment he finally shrugged and took it from her, almost coughing once the substance hit his throat.

"God. What is that?" Five questioned the girl while handing the metal container back, looking at it with slight disdain. Although the only answer he got was a shrug before Vanya returned to the room again, holding a glass filled with an auburn substance.

Five stood up from his seat to meet her halfway, taking the glass from her hand and quickly taking a swig of it before looking up to look her in the eye. He only looked at her a moment before speaking again.

"You think I'm crazy," He told her. Shaking his head slightly, although he didn't exactly sound surprised.

"No," Vanya stammered out quickly. "It's just... it's a lot to take in," She finished. Looking around Five to gaze at Harper for a moment, wondering how exactly she got dragged into this. It wasn't like Five ever had any friends, she couldn't help but wonder if Harper was who he was 'stuck in the apocalypse' with.
