Quote of the chapter

"When things are bad, we take comfort in the thought that they could always get worse. And when they are, we find hope in the thought that things are so bad they have to get better."

– Malcolm S. Forbes

The next morning was a Friday so the four passed word to every one who that they thought would want to join the group, Percy didn't really know who to ask so he asked Luna. The two walked in comfortable silence, the cold winter air stabbed through their cloaks as they walked towards the small village. Where Hermione suggested they have a meeting so every one can decide if they wanted to join.

The two demigods walked, Luna standing at her five foot three form to Percy's six foot two. Luna imagining Percy shirtless. It wasn't hard, she grew up at camp half-blood as well so she knew the grueling physical training they do,  she blushed. Percy happened to notice but not question it. They finally entered the bar, Percy looking around in wonder. It was his first time in the little village and he couldn't help but appreciate all the small snow clad buildings.

"Whoa that is a bit more than a couple." Luna stated as she nervously looked at the twenty plus people attending the meeting, most of them bullying her in her early years at Hogwarts and even now as well.

The girls shot Luna some glares, but Percy noticed and grabbed Luna's hand and glared back, the glare Lupa taught him was the scariest in recent memory even Percy's cousin, Harry. Was terrified of it and he knew Percy would never harm him.

The girls flinched back and looked down, some of them making a vow to be nicer to the young Ravenclaw. Others making a promise to making Luna's life even more miserable, Luna and Percy sat beside each other and started talking. They snapped to attention when Hermione started to talk.

"So guys you might be like us and want to actually learn defense against the dark arts and want to actually learn the spells when some one, like he who must not be named attacks us. Harry has agreed to teach us."

"Oh so he thinks he can teach us eh?" A Irish voice rang out that Percy recognized as Seamus.

Harry rolled his eyes and muttered something to Hermione who looked annoyed before Luna spoke up. "Is it true you can cast the Patronus charm, Harry?"

Everyone stopped muttering to themselves and looked at Harry with shock as the sixteen year old looked embarrassed.

"Yes it is true." Harry said cautiously.

"Blimey, Harry that is so cool." One kid said the others murmured in agreement as Harry, Ron and Hermione smiled.

"Know we have to find a room that we can practice in that won't be detected by Umbridge or any one we know." Hermione said sternly. "Sign your names here so we can come get you when we find a room that fits our requirements."

With that the students got up and signed their names on the parchment and walked out of the village. Luna and Percy stayed back, not realising that they were still holding hands until Percy noticed the smirk on Ron and Harry's face and Hermione's red face as she refused to look at the duo.

Percy followed Harry's gaze and blushed but did not let Luna's hand go.

"So we are really going to do this?" Percy asked finally.

"Yeah, I guess so." Harry said his voice tinged with some nervousness.

"Don't worry about it, Harry you will do fine." Percy replied with a dismissed wave of his hand as the five walked back to the school.

~Later that evening~

Harry was back in detention, Hermione and Ron were to busy with school work so he decided to take a walk around the ancient school, admiring the architecture.

He was so lost in thought he had no idea where he wound up till he saw a lone mirror in the corner of a room that connected to the hallway.

He was confused on why there would be a mirror until he read the top of the mirror, it read.

Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi.

Not knowing what it meant Percy gazed into the mirror till his heart jumped into his throat as he choked back tears.

The mirror came to life as images started to play, Percy saw camp  half-blood. He and Annabeth sat on the deck of the big house laughing as two little toddlers played in the grass. One had black hair and grey eyes, the other blond haired and green eyed as the two laughed as bubbles formed out of seemingly no-where as a barn owl pecked at one of the kids ears affectionately.

Percy knew right away that those were his kids if Annabeth was still alive that what they could be planning to do.

Beckendorf and Silena showed up with a five year old that had her mothers face and eyes but her dads brown hair, the new trio waved to the other five happily.

A hunting horn sounded in the distance as Zoe Nightshade and Bianca Di Angelo appeared in the frame, looking their normal fourteen year old self as Bianca hugged a happy Nico and Hazel both of whom were with Will, Frank and Michael Yew.

Percy choked back a sob watching the scene as the eleven friends hugged as Zoe and Bianca drilled Percy in the arm laughing.

"That my dear boy is the mirror of Erised." A familiar voice rang out, Percy whirled aorund uncapping Riptide in one fluid motion the celestial bronze sword coming to life, before noticing Dumbledore.

"Sorry Dumbledore." Percy muttered as he capped Riptide and put his trusty sword back in his pocket now that it was in pen form.

Dumbledore chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "The fault is mine dear boy, I should know better than to sneak up on a demigod."

Percy nodded as he looked back into the mirror, everyone in the frame staring at him with happy smiles but he could tell their hearts weren't in it. They were sad whether that they have died or that they never had this moment Percy wasn't sure.

"What is this?" Percy asked gesturing to the mirror, refusing t take his eyes off Annabeth.

"The inscription at the top my dear boy reads. 'I do not show you your face but your heart's desire.' Many men have withered away in front of the mirror. Your own cousin was here years ago, I will not tell you or him what either of you saw but it is for the best if you leave it alone " Dumbledore said all humour gone but with a twinge of sadness in his words.

Percy nodded before looking at his friends one last time before walking away with Dumbledore.
