The Test

Still at Steff's place with my friends, I walked out of the bathroom to find Mrs. McKee. She was still in the kitchen.

"Mrs. McKee?"

"Hi Beatrice."

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Yeah."

"I found a positive test in your bathroom trashcan."

"Yes, I am having another baby. Steff said he always wanted a little sibling."

"Well, congrats Mrs. McKee. Steff's gonna be a big brother...and he just might be a parent too."

"What?"

"Here's my question. can I use a test, I saw an extra?"

"Yeah...you can, you two are growing up so fast. Seems like yesterday you two were like six years old. Now you two are graduating high school together."

"He ugh gave me your old prom dress so we could go together."

"You used to try that on all the time."

"Yep, Steff said himself, 'here comes our dream prom."

She smiled.

"I'm gonna go take it now."

I left for the bathroom but Duckie stopped me.

"What's that about a test?"

"You eavesdropped?"

"Yes, a little. All I heard was about prom and you just said you were gonna take a test."

"I think I might be pregnant."

"You serious. Steff's the dad I know it."

"Yeah, if I am it's obvious he is since he's my first time. Don't tell, let me."

"Alright."

"Thank you, excuse me."

I went to the bathroom to take that test.
