I feel the bus come to a slow, careful stop and I slowly open my eyes. I yawn and look around the bus, almost everyone is wide awake and talking, but in a quiet manner. I take out my phone from my pocket and check the time, the bright big numbers, 7:46pm appears on my lock screen as I press the home button. I slowly nudge Emma and she jumps, looking left and right with wide eyes, "Yes! What?! What?!" She blurts out. I laugh as the people around us look at her weird look.
"We're here." I say through my laughter.
She playfully glares at me "Thanks," she says rubbing her eyes.
I look outside the window and notice that the sun has gone down since I last looked out. Everyone on the bus rustles around as they get off the bus, Emma and I wait until the narrow aisle isn't as crowded to get off. Right when I step off of the bus a cool, nice breeze hits me, catching me off guard. I notice faint music playing in the distance, but I don't take much interest. The nap I took on the bus seemed to wake me up, I can't exactly say the same about the grumpy Emma walking beside me.
We take the short trip up in our room and I can hear the loud music more clearly from our room. I groan, wondering how we'll ever fall asleep tonight. Making my way towards the curtains I push them open and I'm instantly greeted with a very crowded beach. Lights are shining everywhere and I see hundred, maybe thousands of people dancing and partying, a lot of the wearing their Brazil jerseys.
Emma stands next to me with a huge grin, "Soph, we have to go down there!" She says ecstatic, the lights from the party reflecting on her eyes. You would have never thought she was grumpy a minute ago with how much energy she has now.
A smile forms on my lips, "Sure! Let's go!" I say eagerly.
Emma jumps up with happiness and she lets out a squeal, "Is my makeup okay?" She questions me.
I laugh, "Yes, Emma your makeup is perfectly fine." I smile.
She smiles back, "Wanna go now?" She asks, looking over at the clock that reads 8:37pm.
"Yeah let's go!" I excitedly say. "Don't bring too much stuff," I advise her.
"Okay, what are you bringing?" She questions.
"Just my phone." I shrug. The last thing on this trip I need is for my stuff to get stolen in the giant crowd.
Emma nods her head in response? "Good idea." She says putting her bag down, and just pulling out her phone as she puts it in her pocket.
We make our way down the hotel lobby and out the beach. As we walk towards the beach the music seems to be getting louder and louder by each step we take. The upbeat song playing currently sounds very familiar, it takes me a minute before I realize the song is Adrenalina by Wisin. The entire crowd is singing along and dancing, and this whole sight reminds me of a night club, except for the fact that there are a couple thousands of people here and its outside on the beach. The crowd is filled with people wearing their Brazil jersey as well, so Emma and I don't feel out of place.
I scan the crowd, everyone's dancing and singing and having a good time, I notice a very familiar head, I try to get a better look but Emma distracts me, "Want to get a drink?" Emma exclaims through the loud, noisy crowd.
I nod my head, "Yeah, where are they?" I ask looking around.
Emma points to a beach hut, with a line of people waiting to order their drinks. Emma and I walk over to the line and there aren't a lot of people in front of us, maybe 10. As we walk on the soft Brazilian sand we pass by many drunk people, but they're like the drunk people who're having fun and letting loose.
