Roberto lazily stirred in his bed, awakening after a few hours of sleep. He had not slept that well in years, his dreams driven by the memory of Amethyst's soft lips on his temple as she had gotten ready for her day, his fantasies all about wanting this to happen all the time. He had woken up to watch the sunset as he always did, then hit snooze on his phone to go back to sleep for a while. It was around nine pm now, and he had resumes to review with Carrick before going to the concert to surprise Amethyst.
Roberto rolled in his bed until he was on Amethyst's side, and he took a deep whiff of her pillow. It smelled just like her and it reminded him of her presence. He couldn't remember the last time he had been so enamoured with someone other than his ex-wife to be so happy about sniffing a pillow.
His alarm clock rang again and he groaned in frustration. He was not looking forward to spending even a moment alone with Carrick. He hated him so bad his teeth hurt. It made absolutely no sense but it was the truth. His fangs would ache and nothing but a glass of bourbon would soothe them. He knew the rest of Carrick's crew must think he was an alcoholic vampire. Maybe he was for all he knew.
Staring at the ceiling of his suite for a moment, trying to find the will to get out of bed, he thought about Amethyst, because lately she was on his mind, and just thinking about her made him happy. He felt like a child being given candy, it was utterly ridiculous.
A little smile carved his lips the more he thought about her. Her plump lips and the way they smiled, the way her thin eyes looked at him every time he walked by, her skin, so soft to kiss and touch, and the way it looked like under the sun.
His fingers wiggled by reflex on the bedsheets just as he imagined the curves of Amethyst's body under them. A perfect shape, easy to glide on, perfect for his palm.
When was the last time he had felt this positive and giddy?
What she looked like was not the only thing he loved about her. She was fierce and honest, but still had a very calm demeanour and behaviour. She knew what she wanted, when she wanted it, and if he couldn't provide, she would go get it herself. He never knew what to expect about Amethyst. That was what he loved the most about her. The surprises. What was there to expect from her? Nothing except delightful orgasms. From the moment she had opened her mouth to ask him for a light to the confidence she wore as a perfume, he knew Amethyst was simply amazing.
Roberto got out of bed and left his bedroom. He wasn't sure why he had gone from a simple hotel room to a fancy and expensive suite, but he liked it. There were more rooms, it was wider, it felt more like a house. He wanted to be down-to-earth a little nowadays, to have the illusion that his life had a foundation, that he wasn't roaming this world enjoying materialistic and ephemeral things, but actually starting to live. He didn't want to be a selfish bachelor anymore, one more crook on the surface of this earth, but a man to someone. He wanted to be someone for someone. When he died, if he ever did, he wanted someone to cry, someone who would miss him. He had always assumed it would be Gwenna and had always held onto this hope. It clearly wasn't the case.
Roberto frowned, scoffed and growled at himself. He needed help, good lord. He had spent centuries feeling good about living in hotels and moving country to country, going everywhere more than once and selling illegal goods. Why was it that now he wanted a place to call home and people there to call him?
Envy. The disturbance of his previous ideals. Memories.
Roberto walked to the little kitchenette in his suite, going for the blood he had in the fridge. He would go for coffee usually, the caffeine helping him feel awake, like a good cigarette. Yet, right now, he wanted energy, the energy only blood could provide. He wanted to be ready for whatever this night had for him.
