It was the year 1573. So much had not been discovered by man. The people so gullible, naive, and well closed minded. Women were viewed as important and vital to the survival of humanity. People were more violent in a sense of punishment. Lots of double standards and well, nothing was to change any time soon. The superstitions kept the public in order, the men on edge, and the children up at night. Those of true high power, chosen by God himself knew of the truths that lay right in front of them. They knew of the realities, what was real and what was not. And right now, quietly, unknowingly by the fragile public, there was a war in the midst of rising.
This war was between the Demons of the night and God's chosen. It was obvious who would win, it would be a close fight. Both sides having tricks up their sleeves. Both sides indeed would be left with damage beyond repair. Both sides had something to fight for. Allies that would die for them, give their entire nation up to protect the kingdom they'd fight alongside.
Why would someone of power give their people's lives so willingly over for a nation that is not their own?
Fear.
Again, all people connected with this war had something to lose. This war could very well end it all. For everyone.
Before getting too far ahead, let us backtrack a bit and understand the foundation of each nation willing to give everything for true rule over the world.
The King of France. The man who was the source of the beginning threats. He's conquered lots of land, taken a lot of lives, and has done man wrongs. He believes he does it all for his country, his God, and his family. In France, women aren't as respected. The King took every matter into his own hands. He made sure that he was looked at to be the strongest, most powerful man of all the land.
His family. He seemed to be cursed by an enemy witch with his luck though. Because he failed to find potential matches for his sons that his beautiful wife carried he realized that having a female was vital as his age was beginning to become a problem. He needed someone to carry on his legacy of conquering the world, and with age came the thought of not caring of the gender, just the name he had made for himself. He wanted to live on. He needed heirs to produce more heirs. It would be easy finding a suitor for a princess seeing as other nations would value her more because of her sex.
In this kingdom, the youngest offspring took on the Crown, seeing as they could rule for a longer period of time. So, he impregnated his wife again. Making a deal that would seal his fate, his legacy. No one was more controlling than he was. Unfortunately, when all hopes were on a female heir, the royal family was let down once again.
Or so they thought.
Looking from the outside in, the infant looked like a boy, among all his other 7 brothers. The witch that sealed the King's "Fate" assured him that he got what he wished for. An heir that could reproduce and finally take over his rule. The King felt like a gullible imbecile, so he yelled until he was blue in the face at the birth of his child.
When the King ran back into the woods to find this witch, she was gone. Like dust. The cabin, the road, everything. He gave her tens of thousands of pounds of gold. From that day on, he resented his family. Cared for his only favorite son, the eldest. The King became abusive, controlling, and degrading. And his youngest got the worst of it, besides his wife.
Once suspicious disappearing and unexplained deaths that reflected the murderous actions of the demons that were feared the most, it was then when the King looked upon these old tales and elders to come to the conclusion that these deaths were acts of war.
On the other side we have the Queen of Spain. She was strong, feared upon, but loved. Her family came first. She chose a path to make friends instead of conquering other nations. She was very capable but her tactics deemed effective.
