I read this article about combat medics and stole this from it. There's also this headcanon floating around the Internet about Will being a great gunman.
Sorry if I get anything wrong. I'm no combat medic.

Will leaped to the side as a grenade exploded, shrapnel flying in every direction. Screams and roars assaulted his ears. He ducked behind a boulder, scanning the battlefield, heart pounding, mind racing.

The advancing monster army showed no sign of dispersing. Enemy demigods battled Camp Half-Blood warriors on the front lines. The battle had been raging for hours now, and they were starting to tire.

Will spotted someone fall to the ground, bleeding heavily. Without a beat of hesitation, Solace rushed into the fray, dodging claws and blades alike.

The wounded demigod was a child of Demeter, unconscious with a gaping chest and shoulder wound. She would need a blood transfusion. Immediately. He crouched down next to her and fished around in his kit for the plasma bag.

"You're gonna be okay, alright?" Will had no clue if she could hear him, but he talked anyway. "Stay with me, kay?" An arrow whizzed past his ear, and he cursed. He started the plasma delivery, crouched over the Demeter girl, the bag held high.

Chaos raged around them. A hellhound focused on Will, its eyes like embers. With a second curse, Will reached for the pistol at his belt, the blood bag in his other hand. Shooting a gun with one hand was stupid, but he had no choice. He fired Celestial Bronze bullets into those blazing eyes. The hellhound collapsed, not dead but close enough to be no harm.

He stood over the patient as he fired his gun into the horde of charging monsters, aiming for weak points. He managed to stabilize her--and ran out of bullets. Panicking, he looked around, then spotted the rifle next to the Demeter girl.

"Can I borrow this? Thank you." He scooped up the rifle and continued to empty bullets into the enemy lines, teeth gritted, breath coming fast. The bullets occasionally bounced off armor harmlessly, but most found weak points and took down enemy demigods and monsters.

The battle went by in a blur. Before Will knew it, the enemy was retreating, cheers coming from Camp Half-Blood's defenders.

The last monster vanished from sight. For a moment, Will stood ramrod-straight, fingers white-knuckled around the rifle, tense as a drawn bowstring. Then he swooped down and checked his patient, the empty rifle clattering to the ground beside him. The daughter of Demeter was still stable. He sighed in relief, trying to keep his hands from shaking from the sheer adrenaline coursing through him.

With help from Austin and a daughter of Hermes, Will got the patient to the infirmary. He managed to fully heal her, then a few others. When the room began to spin, Will stumbled, shakily sat down in a nearby chair, and blacked out completely.

He fell out of the chair and collapsed on the floor with a crash. He continued to snooze. With a sigh of exasperation, Kayla grabbed him under the arms and pulled him away, cursing him out under her breath.
