"April its not that big a deal." my mom has been bugging me ever since we left the hospital. She knows that it bugs me that she is taking the same medicine my dad was taking.
"Mom, it kinda is. Why didn't you tell me anything mom."
"You know what April i've heard enough, this talk is over." And with that my mother just silenced me.
We get home and my mom immediately goes up to her room. Gosh sometimes i feel like i am the only adult in this house. I walk in the kitchen and was about to start cooking dinner before max ran over to me. I almost forgot about this little guy.
"Hi boy, you need to use the bathroom?" he barks a few times and were out the door. When we get in front of the house max runs around the front yard, looking for a place to mark his territory. I walk over to the mailbox and check the mail. I see a letter from the hospital that Miller stays at i immediately open it...
Dear Jackson family,
I am happy to say that your family member Miller Jackson will be released this saturday at 12:00am. I am proud to say that Miller has improved more than any of my other patients. So get ready to have your family member back. I am also happy to say that Miller has become a part of our family as well.
Thank you, Dr. Mathews.
I dropped everything else that i had an ran inside, max following closely behind. I get to my moms room and bang on the door hard.
"April i told you already to drop it!" the door swings open and she looks mad. I simply just shove the letter at her with the biggest smile on my face. She looks at me for a moment then starts reading.
"Dear Jackson family... released... Saturday... noon." She looks up at me, that's tomorrow." I nod my head with excitement. We both begin screaming and jumping around. I don't think i've ever been happier.
Later that day we began getting his room ready. We had to go out and buy some things for the room but it was fun. It was like everything that happened between me and my mom earlier just dissapeared. We did everything we could to the room so that Miller would feel comfortable. We painted the walls blue, got him a queen sized bed, and a desk. Growing up my mom wouldn't let us have T.Vs in our rooms and i guess it just stuck to us, so neither of us have one. Everyone uses the one in the living room.
At dinner that night my mom and i couldn't stop smiling, and talking about what we would do when Miler came home. I feel like my mom isn't gonna have a problem with this whole depression thing. It seems like Miller has always made her smile.
The next day my mom got up super early. When i got up around ten she was already awake with breackfast on the table. She had on her Sunday best and make up on. wow.
"Morning sweet heart, i was thinking you could pick up your brother and when you guys got home he could eat a good homemade meal."
"Okay mom." Around 11:30 i left the house. When I got to the hospital i went up to the room Miller stayed in. I knocked three times like i normally do and Miller answered. We hugged and i walked inside.
"It looks so empty." the room was packed up, and everything that was on the walls whenever i visted were gone.
"Yeah. Okay i don't mean to rush you or anything but I'm kind of buzzing to get out of here." I just laughed and we walked out the room and down the elevator. When we stepped outside the double doors in the front of the building Miller stopped. He closed his eyes and took a breath.
