A defeated sigh escapes Birdies lips as she sets herself into the warm seat of her car, yawning loudly as the exhaustion practically dripped from her body. She hastily pulls out the box of cigarettes from her pocket, yanking one out and sticking it between her lips, lifting it. She inhales for a few seconds, setting her head back on the seat before blowing out into the cold air, allowing the swirling grey cloud to drift about the car.

The sun was only just beginning to set, the amber fading into a deep purple, tiny lights starting to appear. She closes her eyes as creates an image of herself at home, wrapped up in a blanket and sleeping soundly.

Her thoughts swiftly dissipate as the she recollects on the memory of Billy's letter from earlier this morning. She groaned, she knew full well that he was simply inviting her over for sex and she definitely wasn't in the mood, the weight of the conversation she had a couple hours prior with Nancy's mother had really took it out of her.

The girl rolls her eyes and sticks her keys into the ignition, twisting them gently. The engine sputters before coming to a halt, her eyebrows coming together in confusion. She attempts to kickstart it a few more times, earning the same result. She inhales deeply before slamming her hands against the wheel in frustration.

"This piece of tin." She mutters agitatedly, her nostrils flaring.

She angrily gathers her things, yanking her bag and tossing it over her shoulder before opening the door and clambering out. She spins on her heel, facing the car as she set her foot upon the cool red steel and booting it as hard as she could, slamming the car door.

She raked a hand through the tangles of her hair, tugging it frustratedly. She closes her eyes with a huff, setting a hand on her forehead as she allowed the quietness of her surroundings to cleanse her body of the tension. She swiftly took back the remainder of her cigarette before tossing the bud to the floor and pulling out another.

"Hey..." a yelp escaped her throat as a voice called out, disrupting the silence and startling the girl for the second time today.

Her head spun in an instant, "Harrington? You asshole, I could've had a heart attack." She roars, her hand clutching to her chest as if it could radiate a remedy for her racing heart. What is with people today?

"Jesus, sorry." He laughed cockily, setting his hands inside his pockets, "didn't know you were so jumpy."

His lips curled into a smirk as he watched the girls face crumple into one of annoyance.
