"How was your visit with Josh?" I asked Hana. She had returned not even two minutes after Ronan had left.
"Fine," She said sounding disappointed. "Nothing 'fun'," She made air quotes with her hands, "happened. He still hasn't finished unpacking. And did I mention there are four other people living in that house." Hana frowned then went and flopped down on the couch.
I wrinkled my nose at her as I joined her. "It's going to be a rough year for you, isn't it?"
She groaned then gave a puppy dog pout. "Unless you don't mind if Josh hangs out here."
I resisted a frown and shrugged. "What you do behind closed doors is your business."
She grinned. "You're the best roommate ever, you know that?"
"Of course. I have my trophy in my room if you'd like to see it."
Hana rolled her eyes.
We chatted until midnight and then went to bed. I still had nervous energy left from seeing Ronan. I was glad that he was alive but whatever happened to him in the last three months must have been horrible.
I knew if I kept thinking about Ronan I was never going to get to sleep. I needed to get up early to meet with Will, so I grabbed my book to get my mind off reality. I ended up finished the book and I finally closed my eyes at two in the morning.
I pulled into Luna's fifteen minutes late and did a half jogged to the door. When I got inside my eyes found Will in an instant. He was sitting at the same table that Hana and I were last time. The annoyance was clear on his face.
Sighing, I walked over and sat down across from him.
"You're late."
"I know," I said with a shrug. "I'm not a morning person. I suffer from chronic lateness."
He gave me a look that said he didn't find me funny. "Must be rough." His tone was dry.
I noticed his brown hair was sticking up like he just rolled out of bed and he hadn't bothered trimming his stubble. Maybe Will wasn't a morning person either. He was wearing a green t-shirt that matched his eyes instead of his black work polo so he probably did get up just for this. I started to feel a little guilty about being late.
"It's debilitating," I said as I reached for a menu but he shook his head.
"I already ordered for you. Same as last time."
I frowned. It was probably what I was going to order anyway but still, I didn't like it. It the same with how he set up this breakfast meeting. Of course, I wanted to come but it got on my nerves how he skipped the asking part.
"Let's start." He leaned forward, placing his elbows on the table, and lowered his voice. "Tell me about the chimeras you've seen so far."
I leaned in too. "Before that, there is something I need to tell you about last night." I know Ronan asked me not to tell anyone that he was here but he wasn't in his right mind. There was no reason for the Sentinels to harbor any ill will against him just because he was a former Sentinel. They were probably the only ones who could help him.
Concern jumped into his eyes. "What?"
"Someone was at my door before the chimeras showed up. They keep trying to open the door. I was going to get my sword and see who it was but they ran away. Then not even two seconds after they left, the chimeras showed up. " I paused, giving myself the chance to back out of telling Will the truth and to keep my promise to Ronan. I swallowed and continued. "When I got back from fighting them he was there. The guy that gave me his mark."
