30 3 0

you came by at the gas station today. i watched as you walked through the doors, your clothes soaking wet from the downpour outside. you made your way to the candy aisle, and spent a good five minutes there, before walking up to the checkout and placing down a similar strawberry gum package as two weeks ago.
i ringed the package in and waited as you fumbled with your wallet before quietly telling me you don't have any money.
i offered to pay for you, but you refused and took the gum back to its designated place on the shelf before leaving. right as you were stepping back into the rain you shouted a quick goodbye, and the smile that formed on my face hasn't left ever since.
