Silver: The Beauty Of It All

I woke up, my hair messy and frazzled, wearing a black blouse. I rolled over to where I thought I'd see Oscar, but when I turned he wasn't there. He must've woken up early. "I'll go see him in a few minutes..." I whispered to myself as I rolled back and landed in a small pool of my own drool. About ten minutes passed and I began to slowly get up. As soon as I was straight on my two feet I started walking to the door, forgetting about getting dressed. I pulled the door open and walked out into the living room, "Seriously, somethings up. That's my two cents anyway." Weiss sat talking to Yang. I walked over and sat on the couch in between them, "You look like a wreck." Yang pointed out.
"Yeah, you might want to change. We can practically see through that," Weiss added. I looked down at what I was wearing and then stood up, "Yeah I guess you're right." I stumbled my way back to my room lazily. On my way to my door I heard behind me, "Now... did they?" Weiss questioned.
"Did you see her? Definitely," Yang injected.
"No..." I lazily inputed.

Did I do all that I wanted?

-=•=-

A few hours had passed and nothing but silence had swept through my room. Every once and a while I'd hear footsteps from behind my door but they'd be walking by. I'd been waiting to hear from Oscar, but he hadn't been seen in the house at all. I didn't know why he left like that, but I thought he'd be back.

-=•=-

Did I make her happy?

-=•=-

Until, I heard a knock. I jumped out of my bed and walked over to the door. Right as I got close I heard someone, "Ruby, it's me, Qrow." Not who I expected but welcomed nonetheless. I opened the door and I saw Qrow standing there with a drab look on his face. He stared into the wooden floorboards, his eyes showing slight fear and worry. "Is everything alright?" I asked as I tapped his forehead. He lifted his head and looked at my face, "Oscar, he's in the park. I'm sure you can find him. You two need to have a talk..." I tilted my head. What the hell did he do? "What happened Qrow?" I asked defiantly. "Hell, I'm not sure. He'll tell you." I pushed Qrow out of my way and started to speed walk to the door.

-=•=-

Perhaps...

-=•=-

I made it outside and my walk turned into a run. Why was Oscar at the park? Why did Qrow look so upset? Why didn't Oscar talk to me? How come I couldn't get through to him? How come I couldn't help? I ran, and ran. Brushed by people, almost falling over myself a few times. Getting weird looks from a few people standing in the crowds.

-=•=-

... Life is meant to be this way

-=•=-

I began to reach a cold sweat as I was left fear stricken and mortified. It all added up now. Oscar... his sudden change of attitude.

-=•=-

Life is truly...
              A cruel mistress.

-=•=-

Oscar's sudden happiness.

-=•=-

However, people are crueler.

-=•=-

Oscar...
Oscar wasn't happy just because he was with me.

His time is running thin.
As is mine, but who would notice?

-=•=-

That makes me,
                   The cruelest of all.

-=•=-

In a world where the both of us felt so estranged, I more than him... he didn't say a word. Afraid of hurting someone else in the process. He went about it the wrong way, we could have figured something out, found some way... but maybe not. I don't know. So how could he? So how could any of us? Maybe there's still time.

-=•=-

Time.
Something we all strive for,
But...
For what purpose?
Time for what?

I'm not sure.

I emerged from the recently treaded path in the park, his boot marks present in the mud. I walked around a bend and saw our bench. The one we sat at often, there he stood. Not sat. He stood leaning on the back of the bench, facing the forest. "Hey."
"Hi..."
"What's going on?"
"Ruby I..."
"Wait. No don't 'Ruby I' me. Just give it to me straight. Just tell me what's wrong, we can fix this!"
"Heh, you never change okay?"
"Oscar, we can fix this!"
"No we can't. I'm disappearing. Like I never even existed."
"What do you mean?"
"Ozpin's taking over, permanently."
"What do you mean?!"
"I mean he's being forcefully shoved into my consciousness. All I ask is you don't blame him for this."
I felt tears stream down my face, it's what I thought. I'm losing him. Times out. I don't have the powers to save him, the ability to reach out and help. I can't do anything. Neither can he, forever lost. Still, bonded at heart.
"What do you mean? Don't blame him?! He's taking you away from me! This isn't fair!"
"I know. He's not doing this purposefully, he's cursed. There's no way out."
I felt like crumbling to my knees. I almost did. Instead I stood and stared at the ground as I watched my tears hit the dirt below me.
"You know I love you, right?"
"Right now Oscar, I'm not sure."
"I understand."
He turned around and for a second I thought I saw his face long ago, when it was half black and almost melting. Before I knew it, he'd embraced me with a hug. I couldn't move however. I didn't want to. I didn't hug him back, instead I cried into his shoulder.

Not long after those events... I went home and isolated myself in my room.
That night, I went to sleep with unease. However, I opened my eyes to a bench in a forest. The letters OP+RR were carved into it.

"Hey..."
His familiar voice from behind me. I turned and looked at him. It was him. Just him.
"You didn't think you could lose me that easily?"

After all

              We are

Soulbonded

[^-=•=-^]

That's the end.
Star lovers crossed at sea.
Left in eternal limbo.
This is my farewell to you, all of you.

However, if you so choose... if you knock on the wall every once in a while. Chance is, you'll hear a knock back.

Goodbye.
Have a strange day,
and an even stranger week.
