Bella
Run, she thought to herself, her heart beating too fast. Don't stop... can't stop.
She tripped over her feet, over the overgrown roots in the ground. Bella couldn't take in any air, but that didn't stop her from running. She couldn't let him catch her again. Even if he wasn't looking at the moment. The more she runs, the longer it takes.
The first time Bella saw the red-eye monster, she wanted nothing to do with him. But he gave her no choice.
"That hot ass blond is staring at you," one of her old friends yelled over the loud music from the club.
Bella looked to where she nodded and frowned. He was wearing a leather jacket, no shirt, and ripped jeans with his light hair up in a bun. This mysterious man had every female's eyes on him, but he was only staring at Bella. She didn't like that.
Turning back to her friend, she shrugged. "He's...alright, I guess." Bella scowled at her words, wishing she felt confident on coming out to her closest friend. "I don't know, not my type."
"Well, what is your type?" Sabrina asked. "You curved every guy that came up to you. Is everything okay?"
Bella didn't have time to answer. A cold hand touched her shoulder, followed by a smooth voice. "Hey."
Sabrina smirked, leaving Bella with the hunter. When he took the now free spot, Bella was stunned at the color of his eyes. Blood red.
"I'm James." He smiled at Bella and held out his hand. Even though she didn't want to, she shook his cold hand.
"Bella," she muttered, feeling small under his gaze. "Did you need something?"
His smile never left his face. "Yes, but first, how about I buy you a drink and," James got closer to Bella to whisper in her ear, "we can get out of here. What do you say?"
Bella shivered, but not in a good way. She swore that she hear him take a deep breath, awaiting her answer. She gulped nervously but answered him. "I'll take that drink but you'll have to find someone else for that second offer."
James hummed. "That's too bad." He slowly back away from Bella, not before giving her a wink and waving down the bartender. She watched as he returned back to his corner, Sabrina taking back her place.
"He was creepy," Bella told her.
"You are really picky," she pointed out. "They're either too tall, too friendly...is there anyone here that catches your eye?"
Other than that blue haired waitress that gave me her number, Bella thought. "I guess not." She quickly drowned her drink before getting up from her seat. "It's getting late, and I have to work tomorrow."
Sabrina pulled the taller girl into a hug. "I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Of course," she said, kissing the girl's cheek.
Bella left the building then, not noticing the scarlet eyes that watched her leave; the tall figure followed her out but minutes after. James ran beside Bella's car, her intoxicating scent the only thing on his mind. Bella wasn't aware of the dark shadow following her on the rooftops.
Nonetheless, she made it to her small apartment. James breathed in her scent from the roof and followed it to a room just as Bella was climbing up the stairs. When she closed the door, a chill ran up her spine as the voice said:
"A lovely place you have here."
Bella turned slowly as she made eye contact with the guy from the club standing next to her open, broken, window. He stood by with with a sadistic grin on his face.
"What the hell are you doing here?" She asked, her voice fierce, yet she was terrified. "Leave right now or I'm calling—"
Split second, James was right in front of her, crushing her phone in his hand. "Call who, sweetheart?" He growled.
James gripped her chin in his hand, and trapped Bella against the door. He could feel her struggle, but soon stopped when his grip tightened. Bella's heart was beating too fast as his head ducked down to her throat. She felt something sharp at her pulse point.
"You have no idea how amazing you smell," he said, almost moaning his words.
Bella paled but when she heard footsteps outside her door, she couldn't help herself. "Hel—"
James covered her mouth before the words could leave her. He growled lowly, took Bella in his arms and ran. Bella could only see blurs as James ran. She wasn't sure how long they were running. It was only when James threw her concrete was when she got her focus back.
Her grabbed Bella by the neck and slowly lifted her. "Quick and painless was the plan, but you fucked it up." His hand tightened only for him to drop her. James watched as Bella tried to catch her breath.
"Humans," he scoffed, lightly kicking her in the ribs. Still, Bella gasped in pain. "Such fragile creatures."
James moved over her, speaking lowly. "Usually, I would hesitate to kill you but, I want to play a little game."
Bella's forearm became trapped in his hand, resulting in another painful scream.
"I love playing with my food," he explained. "I love watching them run from the inevitable. But only one has escaped from me, almost a century ago."
James got closer to Bella's trembling form to whisper in her ear. "I want you to run. Run far away from here. And if I don't find you in a week, I'll leave you alone. But if I find you..." he didn't have to finish his threat.
"Do you understand?" With tears running down her face, Bella nodded. "Good. Now I'm not going to let you leave completely unscathed."
And with that, he lifted Bella's arm to his mouth, her piercing screams rang throughout the building.
______________
This is mostly for my fellow superhero geeks like myself but...
Marvel really has to stop making their villains look like THAT because it's getting difficult picking a side now.
Anyways, who seen Far From Home?
Bye!
