Bella

The woman, Victoria, has been gone for almost an hour. She left not long after the short conversation they had, but promised to be back soon. Bella wasn't sure what she could be doing, but she had an idea.

Bella looked up at the sky, it was starting to turn dark, and sighed.

I can't stay here, she thought. James will find me. He always will.

A throat cleared from beside her. Victoria was back; but with more items, this time. More clothes, it seemed, and a blanket. Victoria placed the things next to her, a soft smile on her face.

"I got you some more clothes," she stated. "It seems like you need some new ones." Victoria nodded to the torn and dirty clothes Bella wore. "And a blanket. I heard it was going to be cold tonight."

"Thank you," Bella said, looking at the taller woman. Her blood ran cold at the sight of her eyes. Before Victoria left, her eyes were darker but now, they were bright.

Gulping, she grabbed the clothes from the waiting hands and gave Victoria a glance. She got the idea and turned around.

What she had was a sweatshirt from Seattle University and matching sweatpants. They looked clean, new even. Slipping off her pants, minding her injured leg, and put the new ones on. She had a bit more difficulty with her shirt.

When Bella released a small noise of pain, Victoria quickly answered. "Do you need help?"

Bella replied with a small, 'yes'. Victoria knelt down in front of her, and easily ripped off Bella's shirt. She put the hoodie over Bella's head, and helped her arms through. She was thankful that she didn't feel that much pain.

Nodding at her, Bella watched as Victoria gathered her clothes and threw them in the fire. She didn't need them anymore anyways.

"Who do you go for?" Bella asked, watching Victoria take a seat next to her.

"I limit my options," she explained. "I don't go for anyone under twenty one. And if they are, I go for the bad people." The next sentence came out quietly, a frown on her face. "Never the victim."

Bella didn't like that frown on her face. It didn't look right. "Why for those people?"

Victoria shook her head, smirking a little. "It's my turn now. How did you know what I am?"

She looked away, playing with her fingers. It took her a few seconds until  Bella was able to answer. "You're...not the first vampire I've encountered. For the past months, a vampire has been hunting me. Nonstop."

"What's their name?" Victoria growled, not liking what she was hearing.

"James," she muttered, subconsciously rubbing her arm.

Victoria noticed the action and slowly reached for her arm, remembering what Bella said about being touched. When she didn't react negatively, Victoria pushed up the sleeve only to be shocked at what she saw.

Bite marks. Multiple of them, overlapping each other. Victoria's finger brushed over one of the marks, trying her hardest not to freak out over them.

James, Victoria thought. That name didn't sound familiar.

"He won't stop until I'm dead." Bella's voice broke her out of her thoughts. "He's coming for me, in a few weeks he will be here. Either to kill me or torture me, and I wouldn't mind the second option at this point," she admitted, tears coming to her eyes.

"James isn't going to come anywhere near you," Victoria stated before she could even think. She grabbed both of Bella's hands in her own. "As long as I'm around you, I am going to protect you. I promise you that."

Bella smiled softly, but still had her doubts. "Are you sure? He could hurt you."

"He won't come anywhere near us," she said. "Bella, I have this type of power. It allows me to know when danger is near. So I'll know when James is near."

Bella got fascinated. "Does everyone have a power?"

"No. Only some do," she responded. "And the ones that do, usually stay under the Volturi's radar."

"The Volturi?" Bella yawned. "Who's that?"

"That is a conversation for another day." Victoria wrapped Bella up in the blanket, making sure she was comfortable. "Go to sleep, I'll be here when you wake up."

The strange smell in the hospital wouldn't bother the male, but this particular scent caught him off guard.  Moving too fast for the human eye to see, made made sure none of the patients had any new wounds.

He made it back to his office, confused. No one was bit. Not a single person was out of order. So why was a vampire in the hospital if not to drink from anyone?

He picked up his phone and pressed on the first contact on his phone.

It didn't have a chance to ring before she picked up. "What's up, Carlisle?"

Carlisle smiled at her chirpy voice. "Hello Alice. I have to ask you something."

Alice stayed silent for a minute. "I...I haven't seen anything about a vampire in the hospital. It must've been a quick decision."

Carlisle hummed. Alice was usually looking for visitors passing through Forks, and the fact that someone got under Alice's radar was alarming.

"Maybe she got caught by somebody," Alice thought, "and that's why she didn't take anyone?"

"We won't know for now, Alice. Just keep an eye out, okay?"

"Yes sir. See you when you get home."
