The Past, Summer of 1990

The heat was a nice change.  He had gotten so used to the rain that he had almost forgotten how nice it was here when the sun was out.  Breathing in the sweet, fresh air, he let out a sigh of euphoria as his bright blue eyes took in the beautiful sky above them.  The sun was setting, creating the gorgeous colors of bright orange, pink, and purple.  The clouds made it look like he was analyzing a painting.  They were so soft and delicately placed.

The day hadn't lasted long enough.  They all had been at the lake.  Swimming, playing volley ball, goofing around.  One of their friends brought over their small motorized boat.  Layne hogged it the majority of the time, flinging water balloons at everyone every time he had passed them.  Everyone would've normally been annoyed, but they were used to his antics.  His over the top jokes only made him charming, along with the hilarity that his swimming trunks kept slipping off of him.

After a while, he had talked a few of them into migrating to a more secluded part of the lake.  They skinny dipped, but it didn't last very long.  They were growing too paranoid that someone would catch them.

A huge toothy grin overcame his thin face when Demri placed a delicate kiss against his lips. Those long, thin but slightly muscled arms, pulled her in closer to him. Eventually he had her pinned on the beach towel, making out with her furiously.

A small laugh escaped her as she squirmed underneath of him, trying to push him off of her. "Our friends are still here," she squealed when Layne reached up her shirt.

He shrugged. "So? That never stopped us before."

She rolled her eyes and laughed. His large hand grabbed her small one and tightened his hold, now pulling her up from the ground. He swooped her tiny body into his arms, skipping across the sand until he had reached their car.  A giggle escaped her when he tried to open the door himself while still holding her.

Quickly, she slid out of his arms and opened the door.  A huge smile spread across her face when she peaked up at him from the car seat.  He was shouting over at their group of friends, waving goodbye to them before jumping into the driver's seat of the car.
