Riley Hopper was a lover of mysteries, so long as she could turn the page and enjoy the novelty of escaping from the real world. Her entire life, Riley chased excitement, wishing that with every passing day, she would be brought closer and closer to her next adventure.

When tragedy strikes in the young girl's heart, Riley is sent across the country to her father's hometown, to a drunken uncle she hadn't had a coherent conversation with in years, and when he is placed in charge of finding a missing boy in Hawkins, Riley is left on her own to deal with the horrors of the past, and what it could mean for her new future. To escape the never-ending nightmare, she decides to join her new friends in investigating the case of Will Byers, dragging Riley into much more than she could've ever bargained for.

For the mystery is no longer only on the page, and the dangers lurking in the dark are much more than just a fantasy.
