It had been a few months since I found out that Scout was depressed. She had gone to the help center that Bobby had set up at the school. Things had gotten a lot better with her, but the start was rough.

I told her that the group could help, that Kris never got that kind of help and that it could help her.

The problem was that she didn't wanna be saved, she wanted the "depression monster," as I called it, to take her over. To control her life and just push her to the point of suicide. But I'm one stubborn kid so I refused, no matter how many times she told me that she couldn't do it anymore, I told her that she could do it. That she could make it through with the help of other people.

Sooner or later, I finally convinced her to join the group, with the help of Bobby, of course.

It shocked me whenever I went with Scout to the group one day, just how many students were depressed. Some of my classmates, who seemed so happy, they were there.

I never knew that they were depressed, just like I didn't know that Kris was depressed because she always seemed so happy and bubbly. Scout tried to hide her depression but I knew better, I wouldn't let that thing take another one of my friends.

Scout didn't talk to me for awhile, she was pretty upset over the fact that I wouldn't let the depression eat her alive.

About a month later, she finally did.

"Tristen?" I heard a familiar voice call from behind me while a soft finger tapped my shoulder blade.

I spun around immediately, obviously knowing who it was because it wasn't hard to tell, "Hey, Scouty girl."

"I'm really sorry about being so snappy with you during these last few months. I was just scared."

"We all get scared when it comes to that kind of thing. Depression sucks balls."

"How would you know? You haven't exactly experienced it."

"No, but I have experienced the results of it. And believe me when I say that they aren't fun," the truth was though, I was depressed, no one could see it though because they didn't exactly know what to expect or they were too caught up in their own little world.

Scout didn't say much after that, she just turned around and started talking to the girl behind her.

We had become pretty distant the next few months of school, which really upset me because it was our Senior year and we'd both be separated when we went off to college. To be quite honest, she was the only thing I had left and I didn't want to let that go. I wanted to hold onto that.
