It was the day of the party, and everyone was excited. I took the bus home with Devin, after calling my grandpa and telling him what was going on. Once we got to Devin's house, We pulled out all of the things we had purchased at the store 2 days before, and I poured an assortment of chips, and candy into bowls and set them on the counter, while Devin began to make the homemade pizza.
After we got the three pizzas in the oven, I pulled out the drinks and set them up nicely on the table. "I think we need some music for this party, wouldn't you?" Devin asked, putting a bowl in the sink and making sure his apron was tied on tightly. "Well heck yeah!" I replied lightly, cleaning the counters with a wash cloth. Devin ran over to the living room and turned on the stereo setup that was connected to the tv and plugged his iPod into it. "What genre should we listen to? Classic? Rock? Pop? Ooh or we could listen to screamo- that would be really fun to dance to!" I burst into laughter and scrunched up my nose. "No, I don't think that will appeal to everyone," I smiled, "how about you just put it on shuffle?" I began to scrub a couple of dirty bowls in the sink. "Good idea," he said, pushing a button on the screen and setting it down before returning back into the kitchen. He leaned against the counter and watched the stopwatch count down the time until the pizza was done cooking.
The atmosphere became happy as the stereos blasted happy nineties rock music. Devin and I danced around the kitchen as we cleaned and prepped for the big party. He dipped his finger in the bowl of extra pizza sauce and dabbed it on my nose, just to annoy me. But I just laughed and turned to wipe it off with a towel. Before I knew it Devin slid on the cream tiled floor and ran straight into me, causing me to lose balance and fall on the ground with a thud. He began laughing, "Well I didn't mean to do that! You're clumsier than you look aren't you?" I slowly started to stand back up as he reached out his hand to help me, which I gladly took.
As he pulled me up, I felt a bit wobbly, and fell into his arms. He smiled and helped me gain my balance, and when i looked up his eyes were looking straight into mine. And suddenly the whole word stopped spinning, and the song slowed down. We didn't speak, but it seemed as if our eyes were saying all that we wanted them to say. I broke our gaze, and blushed, ripping my hand out of his. He didn't stop looking at me though, and I could feel it. "I need to go... to the bathroom," I said frantically, jogging out of the kitchen and going around the corner into the bathroom. I locked the door and leaned against it, slowly sliding to the floor and breathing heavily. My heart was beating so fast. Stop that. Nothing happened. Nothing. Happened.Did something happen?
no.
i was imagining it.
i had to of been.
it was nothing,
i need to get back out there and help with the party..
