(3rd POV)

When their hands touched, she felt as though her hand was forcefully pushed on top of a bed of needles. If the signs weren't going off loud enough in her head, they were now.

For him, it was the exact opposite. Warm. Soft. Just like her. The balance.

Something was not right about this man. She wanted to let go just that instant, but it was like her body froze her there in place. What picked at her more was the name.

"Dan?" She tilted her name at him, still smiling. But then, she thought, "He couldn't be."

"Do you by chance know a doctor in the area?" She jokingly slipped in. This made him chuckle, looking down and then meeting her eyes. But, damn, there was something about his eyes now that sent chills down her spine.

"I see she might have told you about me then." He answered, laughing.

"I may have forced it out when I saw the messages." She admitted shrugging. Still noticing he hasn't let his hand go either snapped her back into focus. Forcing herself, she weakens her hand to let it fall, but his hand was like a lock, holding her hand in place, maybe even holding tighter, trying not to break the contact. And with a split-seconds decision, he lets go. Freeing her hand from the pain of needles.

("Dan" POV)

She feels just like her.

Despite loathing her and who she was, no matter what, I had to accept the fact that they both gave me the same feeling. The light at the end of the tunnel. The light to my darkness.

Something about her smile melts me a little, almost ready to call it quits.

"So, are you new to the area?" Samaya asked.

"Yeah, I've actually been here to pass through. I've been in a bit of a hurry." Plans were flowing out of my mind. What should I do next?

"Excuse me?" A hand from behind taps her hip, causing her to retract. She looks down to see a little boy looking up at her. Captivated by his cute features, she bent over to his level.

"Hello. How may I help you?" The boy looks at her shyly.

"I-I'm looking for a book."

I couldn't help but stare at her ass; it was just right there in front of me. I couldn't help but feel embarrassed, thinking of the consequences if I got caught. But I was already fucking her friend. I don't need more shît on my plate. So I looked away, fixing my clothes.

"Oh? What kind of book? I'll show you." She holds out her hand, and the boy takes it.

"It's called, The Little Girl and The Smoked Orb, book one." This froze every fiber in my body. What The hell was that book doing here? Not only was it valuable, but it had been missing for 250 years! A thought popped in my head.

OH, THAT WOMAN!!

I feel myself get angry again, balling my fist that my knuckles turn white. Samaya looks at me, and I try to be cool.

"Are you okay? You seemed shocked." She said, looking into my eyes. I blink away, giving a small laugh.

"It's just that I haven't heard that title in years where I'm from. Just shocked to hear it." I nod, thinking.

"Yeah, my aunt was very limited when it came to the series." Two beings, multiple adventures, same ending with every one of them. Back home, during that faithful night, it was taken, disappeared, and finally turns up here. I wonder where she is now? I wanted to ask her, but seeing that her heart looks big for her body and through my eyes, giving off a golden glow unlike the other humans, lets me know that torch has been passed, whether we want it to or not.

"It was a nice meeting, Dan." She smiled, nodding her head at me, and led the boy out of the section, asking questions to help him out. She stops suddenly and looks at me as if to remember something. "Actually, I already told Lakita I insisted. I've invited you to a party at my house. We can get to know each other better there."

"A party? Yeah, that seems nice." I nod. Now coming up with an idea. "I'll be there!" She smiled at my answer and waved goodbye while leaving. No matter how far she walked, I never took my eyes off of her, where ever the beating glow went, I followed.

And I wanted it.

That heart was the key to everything, and I wasn't going to stop till I got it. But then, a thought sneaked into my head, and I grinned, turning around to leave. "Even if I have to rip it out with my bare hands."

(??? Pov)

The things I do for family, for my people, for love.

The things I've done in Past, Present, and Future; did it really come to this.

Sensing her her there it made my heart beat a little quicker.

And so many what if's cross my mind.

Would I be able to look past it for them. I'll just have too.
