"well, turns out the kid is a lot harder to contact than i had initially thought," he sighed, cracking his knuckles. "i guess we'll have to make two stops instead of one."
the other man turned back towards the television, watching the same video over and over again of the kid in action. he observed every maneuver of her body, every step she took, every web she shot out and spun from her fingertips.
"are you sure you want the kid?" the tired man inquired, taking his place beside his friend as they together watched the replaying video.
"she seems strong," he replied. "we need strong."

"cindy, you're already gonna be late for school!" olivia shouted bedsides the room door, rapping her knuckles against the wood. "get up, now!"
cindy groaned, rubbing her tired eyes whilst rolling onto her back, taking a peek up at the ceiling through her blurry vision.
"five more minutes," she responded sleepily, almost on the verge of falling back asleep.
"cindy, school starts in ten minutes."
at this, cindy's eyes widened and she practically leaped off of bed, sprinting towards her closet, and grabbing the first things she could find— a worn out t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants. she hastily slipped her shoes on and brushed through her nest of hair before snatching up her backpack from the ground, practically breaking down the door and slipping and sliding down the stairs.
"bye!"
"be careful!"
she ran through the street, making sure to look back behind her shoulder to make certain she was out of sight from the foster house. she turned back towards the many buildings ahead of her, choosing one to shoot a web at, swinging her way to school.
by the time she had finally arrived, the bell had already rung. she hastily made her way up the steps and inside the school building, throwing open her locker and shoving her things inside, digging around for her textbooks. she jogged her way to her first class, stumbling inside of the classroom, catching the attention of everyone inside. crimson crept onto her cheeks at the burning sensation of everyone's eyes on her.
"i'm so sorry i'm late!" she exclaimed, bowing her head down as she slipped into her seat. the teacher pursed her lips, arms crossed around her chest.
"you're lucky we were just beginning to start," the teacher scoffed, choosing to not say anything else before beginning her lesson.
somewhere during the class whilst cindy dazed out, ella, who sat beside her, had done her best to get her attention.
"hello? can you hear me?" cindy finally picked up her friend's voice, snapping her head towards her. ella raised an eyebrow and pursed her lips at this, leaning in closer. "where have you been? you're never late."
"slept late," cindy replied back before turning back to the front of the room, the sounds of their names permeating the room as the teacher eyed the two girls. cindy cursed underneath her breath— she couldn't stand all this unwanted attention she'd been getting lately.
"i'm sorry, is there something you two would like to share with the class?" she inquired, clasping her hands before her hips, lips pressed in a firm, thin line as she awaited an answer.
