My hair swept past my shoulders as I quickly ran across the street to Aziraphale's bookshop. I nearly trip over myself while making my way over the curve, finally reaching the door at last.
I casually walk in as the door front shut behind me. After brushing my hair out of my face, I'm greeted with a friendly angel smiling at me.
"Hi, Zira." I smile back at the angel. Our little nicknames for each other make me smile inside, knowing of how great our friendship is.
"And hi to you my dear, but you do know that it's highly unnecessary for you to arrive this early? The store doesn't even open till another half hour."
"Oh, Zira. You know me, I always come early no matter how many times you tell me otherwise." My hand rests on his shoulder for reassurance.
"And anyways, I love this bookshop, so why not come early?" I laugh as I walk further into the bookshop, large piles of books practically blocking the walkways.
Aziraphale and me soon proceed to our normal daily tasks, him denying the costumers of any books, and me organizing the ever array of his novels and cleaning here and there.
It's been two to three hours or so, and I soon drown out the familiar sound of Aziraphale explaining why some of his books are not for sale, and let my mind escape somewhere else. I drift to the back of the shop while carrying many books in hand. As I do so, I always take the time to examine the type of books Aziraphale has.
I well know by now that Aziraphale has been collecting books for centuries, but it really fascinates me on just how many he has. I mean, from stories to biographies, he has it all.
As I'm rearranging a shelf, and very large book falls right on my foot. "Ow! What in the name of-"
I reach down to grab the book, but bump my head in the process by the shelf above me.
"God damn it-" I reach up to hold my head.
"Is everything alright back there, Adi?-"
"Yep! Just bumped my head that's all!" I rush out and nervously laugh.
"Do be careful dear! Don't want you injured now."
Aziraphale soon walks out of range as I glance down at the book. Sufficient Scripture about Soulmates.
"Odd.." I blow off the dusk masking the book, "Soulmates? what's a soulmate?" Turning blank pages of no notable context, I land on the tittle page.
Sufficient Scripture about Soulmates Vol. 1: a person ideally suited to another as a close romantic partner or companion. Angels, Demons, and Humans addition.
"Angels and Demons? I know Zira is an angel and all, but he never mentioned anything about soulmates.."
"That's because they are forgotten from history-"Aziraphale chimes in behind me.
