Gaze
She looks at me with serious eyes
Her passion is concealed
In a formal image
Of pride and revenge
For perceived faults
That lie in our past
What compromise must I present
To assuage a broken heart
In this era of dissent
That clouds our relationship
And leads to dismay
In a time of love
