It can be an unpleasant feeling to find yourself waking up from a deep, comfortable slumber, especially if you have been deprived of sleep or considers it as their one specialty. There are three possible reasons as to why you would find yourself waking up in the dead of the night, in the opinion of yours truly that is.

One, there had been a loud noise occurring from the premises, be it due to your father's loud snoring or your neighbour's late night activities. Believe me, the latter is quite disturbing. Before you could process what was meant in the previous sentences, let us proceed to the next one, shall we? Two, the temperature inside the room is either too hot or too cold for your liking. Three, your sibling, who shares the same bed as you, had accidentally kicked you with the same strength as an elephant. In any case, those are nothing but personal experiences of the narrator of this story so you are free to ignore the first two paragraphs of the story.

Dororo's eyes shot open in the middle of the night, the sound of your booming snores happening to be louder than the usual as if you were practically producing the irritating noise right beside her ear. The raven haired child attempted to get up from her lying position but was deemed unable to as she realized a pair of lean arms were caging her petite form.

Cocking her neck to catch a glimpse of the perpetrator, Dororo came to the realization that it was none other than you who had her trapped in your arms as she saw the messy mop of tousled (h/c) tresses framing your average face.

"Well, this is a first..." Breathing out a sigh, the boyish-looking girl wiggled in attempt to escape your hold once more as your current position was with your snoring face relatively close to her left ear.

After ten minutes of her feeble failed endeavours, Dororo groaned in disappointment as she was only able to free her left arm. With the little success she had, the black-haired child reached out to grab a piece of cloth conveniently lying a ruler away from her before stuffing it inside your mouth, an action she had relentlessly done during a couple of nights when her ears could bleed from your noise.

Breathing out a tranquil sigh, she fluttered her eyes close, settling down to relax on the comfortable warmth produced by your body heat. Besides the loud snores, Dororo has to admit that she had found your platonic cuddling quite enjoyable, especially with the nights cold as they would camp outside for the majority.

With a tired yawn, Dororo unconsciously mumbled out. "I can get used to this, Onee-san..."

It wasn't much of a surprise that we had set out to continue our travel first thing in the morning. I believe that is quite the norm in this hard living. Admittedly though, I didn't learn how to wake up as early as functional human being just until recently. Quite the surprise as I had long thought my inability to get up from bed was an incurable disease.

Marching just beside Dororo, I glanced at her petite form, shooting her an inquisitive look. I raised an eyebrow at the sight of a piece of paper in her hands scribbled with unfamiliar characters I assumed to be kanji.

It felt curious as to why she was focused on the sheet of paper. If I recall correctly, she was incapable of reading, judging from how she was no help with the message in a bottle I had picked up quite some time ago.

"Hey, Dororo," Leaning my head closer to inspect the paper in her grip, I called out her name. From my peripheral vision, I could see that she had spared me small glance before shifting her attention back on the writings of the paper. "What are you holding?" I knitted my eyebrows in confusion as no matter how hard I tried, I cannot read whatever was scrawled with black ink on the article. "I presume you are as clueless as I am with what message it contains."
