Chapter 5- I Will

⠀⠀⠀It was just about the middle of the night, where everyone should be sleeping. The time was twelve-ten in the morning, the perfect time where all different evil spirits may be popping out.

⠀⠀⠀At this point, young children shouldn't be staying up. Everyone should be asleep in their cozy little beds, dreaming of marvelous dreams. Yet, there are still those people who stay up, like mages who go on missions to fight others, they have to stay up or else they might be dead in no time.

⠀⠀⠀Jeraline and Eric were up and about around the forest that was extremely far from home, trying to find a place to camp for the night. They were walking slowly, or at least, Eric was. Jeraline tried to keep herself awake by moving her feet faster, tucking in the branches and twigs that were in the way.

⠀⠀⠀Eric's eyelids were too sleepy to stay open. He walked droopily, even if his sister was holding his hand and pulling him to make him walk faster. The next minute, he complained while he narrowed his eyebrows.

⠀⠀⠀"Onēsan, I'm tired!" A yawn escaped from his mouth, as his sister stopped and decided to give him a piggy back ride, although she was really tired. She blew a small cloud with a piece of sweat that flowed outside of her head.

⠀⠀⠀"Eric-kun, don't be surprised," Jeraline began to complain, "it's like midnight right now!"

⠀⠀⠀Eric sighed with disappointment and guiltiness, really feeling bad for his older sister, although he refuses to walk.

⠀⠀⠀"Gomenasai, Onēsan," he quickly apologized, thinking it would mean so much. "I didn't mean to make you mad. Especially when you're the one who'll be dead... I shouldn't go hard on you."

⠀⠀⠀His face wanted to cry, as his eyes were glued to the ground, yet slowly closing. At that moment, Jeraline glanced at him with a frown, regretting what she said that is strong enough to hurt her little brother's feelings.

⠀⠀⠀"Its alright, Eric-kun. I'm just tired." Jeraline said, later looking back straight to see where she was going. "I'll still be the one, who'll protect you, since that I forced you to come with me."

⠀⠀⠀Eric already had his eyes closed and he was resting, but he wasn't yet asleep. He was still listening to what Jeraline was saying each and every word that came out of her mouth. He decided to give a small reply, with his eyes still closed.

⠀⠀⠀"Like Papa and Mama. Right now, Papa and Mama are in danger, but Papa and Mama are strong. I believe in them, Onēsan," he replied, "if it's for us, I'm sure they'll not try, but they will protect us, whatever comes their way."

⠀⠀⠀"In return for protecting us, we should protect them." Jeraline said, as she suddenly falls sit on the ground, lying against a tree because she was too tired to carry him. "Eric-kun, can you please try to walk on your own? I'll carry you later when I feel awake."

⠀⠀⠀Eric opened his eyes, later nodding and hopped off his sister's back. Even though his blood wasn't really awake, he gazed around the forest and around the spot they were at and suddenly his eyes burst widen. It was because he and Jeraline were sitting nowhere in a forest, where little spiders and bugs were at work on their day. It spooked Eric, making him jump on Jeraline's lap.

⠀⠀⠀"Yikes, Onēsan!" He burst out. "We're sleeping somewhere -" he was interrupted by Jeraline, who was cupping his mouth with her hand anxiously, getting frustrated at his carelessness of being too noisy. She crossed her eyebrows, after looking around.

⠀⠀⠀"Don't be too loud, Eric-kun!" Jeraline warned.

⠀⠀⠀Eric gasped out of curiosity as his sister let go of her brother's mouth. He sat down, but suddenly clenched his teeth from feeling his wounds acting up from the last fight. They were both out of magic power, and if an enemy were to come, all they could do is slowly hide cleverly.
