Ai/Itami POV

Knock, Knock, Knock!

I grabbed a kunai from my bedside table and walked over to the door. I wasn't tired in the least, having had been waken up all the time in the middle of night for ANBU Missions. I opened the door without caution and tripped the man, jumping onto him with my kunai to his neck.

"N-No, i-it's me, Captain Itami!" The familiar voice was scared, and I only know one person who is always scared of me.

I sighed and went back to my feet, standing to look at the man. "What do you need, Kotetsu?" I asked with genuine kindness. He composed himself and cleared his throat, looking serious.

"We are to head to the Hokage, immediately." He informed, then sped off without another word. Seeing his seriousness, I quickly changed into some ninja gear and fluttered off in a pack of butterflies. And, just for precaution, I had taken my ANBU mask with me.

I kneeled in front of the Hokage once I landed, ignoring the other crowds of Chunin, Jounin, and ANBU that were gathered. Once they took notice of me, the talking had stopped, them looking right at me.

I stopped kneeling and stood, joining his side. He looked at me and smiled, despite the situation. "I'm glad you could make it, Itami." He said.

I just nodded in reply and listened to the loud chattering of the others. "We need to stop Naruto!"

"He went too far!"

"He needs to be punished!"

"He's a monster!"

"A no good monster! He'll destroy us all!"

"We're all going to die!"

I stayed passive as I inwardly rolled my eyes at their exaggeration. Because, certainly, twelve year old boys could destroy a whole village that is filled with elite ninja.

"That scroll he stole is filled with forbidden jutsu, Hokage-sama!"

Now, I began to panic. If Naruto is somehow manipulated it can go into the wrong hands. Presumedly, it could lead to this village's end and reputation that our past Hokage's had given us. It would be a waste to their hard work.

I quickly turned into paper airplanes and flew around the village, going to the forest parts. There, a tiny, old abandoned house sat there, where I spotted a blob of orange. I flipped into form and landed in front of him, making him yelp in surprise.

"Uzumaki Naruto..." I started, putting on my mask since he hadn't taken a look at my face, due to him still recovering from shock.

"W-who are you?" He stammered, getting to his feet. I held out my hand, needing this scroll immediately.

"The scroll must go back to where it belongs, in the Hokage's possession. Give the scroll back." I ordered, stepping forward, only for him to step back.

"No! I need this scroll to graduate! I need to keep my promise to Itami-chan!" He declared, glaring at me with determination in his eyes. Those words had taken me back, making me freeze.

He... did this for... me?

I retracted my hand and watched him with wide eyes, of course unseen because of my mask. I nodded and turned away, my back facing him. "Very well, but..." I stopped and teleported off as I felt another chakra presence coming towards us. I landed on a tree and watched, just in case they try and harm Naruto.

To my surprise, it was Iruka.

They began talking, well, arguing. I smiled at how much Iruka acts and cares for Naruto, like Naruto was his younger brother. It was nice-

"Uzumaki Naruto, give me that scroll."

A familiar voice boomed in, sounding venomous and, somehow, evil. I turned to see Mizuki, someone I never thought would be the culprit.
