Chapter 16

Ai/Itami POV

The timer rang, signaling that it was over. Naruto ended up being tied to the post, which he was outraged about. I sat next to Sasuke, watching Kakashi's disappointed expression as he began bringing their hopes up, only to plummet them down tenfold. They were crushed, angry, especially Sasuke. He charged at Kakashi, but in a blink of an eye, Kakashi was sitting on Sasuke instead. In my opinion, it wasn't as fast as his real speed, which is a lot better than mine. I could tell he was holding back, only because his speed now is something I could catch up to.

"Sakura! Kill Naruto or I'll kill Sasuke! Itami! Kill them both if she doesn't do it!" He exampled, holding a kunai to Sasuke's neck. Sakura didn't have the guts to kill anything, no matter how much she loves Sasuke. Kakashi got up of Sasuke and walked towards the KIA stone. They could feel the depression in the air.

"This stone has all the heroes names on it, including my friends." Kakashi started, staring at one particular name. The sorrow of losing a teammate, I couldn't understand it, it has never happened to me.

"Hey, hey! I wanna get my name on that stone, 'ttebayo!" Naruto exclaimed, not even noticing the depressing aura or the fact that he had just ruined a sad moment.

"It's not just any kind hero..."

"Ooh! What kind are they?!" Naruto pleaded, grinning in excitement.

"They're all... KIA." Kakashi told him, but he was oblivious to the word.

"KIA? Sounds cool!" Naruto shouted. I looked over at the sky, eyes closed calmly in serenity.

"They are all killed in action..." I spoke, opening my eyes to look at Naruto with a hidden emotion. His eyes widened until sadness overtook him and he looked down sadly. It seems everyone bowed their heads down in pity.

Kakashi, breaking the tension, turned around and said, "Okay, I'll give you guys another chance. You guys eat now but don't feed Naruto, that's his punishment for trying to eat earlier." He then looked over at me, nodding. "Come with me, Itami."

"Wait, why does Itami get to go with you?!" Sakura questioned, looking utterly confused. He shot her a pointed look while I lifted a bell, making all their eyes widen. They stood silent, so I took that as a cue to follow Kakashi. We waited behind a tree, hiding our presence while we eavesdropped on their conversation. I was beginning to get bored, so I waved my hands around, creating paper butterflies to fly around me. It then flattened out, turning into flowers that fell gracefully to the ground. Kakashi picked one up and studied it, twirling it around in his fingers.

"Here..." Sasuke's voice said, somewhat hard to hear. I peeked out of the tree to see him handing his food to Naruto, making me smile. Kakashi was listening, I knew it, he seemed so proud. He lifted up his forehead protector, revealing the Sharingan. And, that's when I realized that he was showing his deceased friend teamwork and bondings, something that would have made him happy.

Unknown POV

How naive she is.

Seemingly carefree as if nothing in the world was wrong. Tch, I know she's hiding beneath a facade, I just don't know what's her real self, and I need it now. It'll be useless if I get her now without knowing her true feelings, it would be hard to manipulate.

The things I have to do...

But it'll be worth it. She'll make well with my plans either way. A bargain for Pain and Konan to work harder in exchange for her daughter. It's something they can't refuse, especially since they believe I am Uchiha Madara. She's also close to the Kyuubi brat and would, later on, be close to the Uchiha, making it easier for me to take them. Also from ANBU ROOT, high chances of her earning back the emotionless feeling so she could get rid of Kakashi and that useless pink haired brat. Maybe she could help destroy Konoha and take over the world in the Tsukiyomi. My plans are perfect, especially since I have more advantages.

Soon, I'll be with her.
