Chapter One

Madeleine was alone. It wasn't the first time, her parents were on business trips quite often. She rather enjoyed it actually, the house was quite and she could read. Tonight a snowstorm was raging outside. It was winter break, and Madeleine wouldn't have school for another two weeks. She stared out the window of her library, with a warm fire crackling beside her, steaming tea in hand. Her novel lay beside her, finished. It was an action, thriller novel told in the second person. Her library was her happy place, warm and cozy, filled to the brim with lovely smelling books. Her parents built it for her and fed money into her obsession, instead of actually paying attention to her. Finally, she decided she was hungry, and ordered some Chinese food. It was after 7:00 pm, but she wouldn't sleep until 10:00. She watched some TV, but it was just the news. After awhile, the doorbell rang, but instead of a Chinese food delivery guy, there was a girl.

She was no older than 13, and wore a tightfitting, black suit. "Madeleine?" she asked hoarsely. "Um yes..?" Madeline replied. "Oh, good." said the girl. And then, she collapsed.
