Prologue

Death is a sudden thing, we have little if any control over it only pushing it off for a short amount of time. It comes suddenly and without mercy, it doesn't care if you're old or young, wealthy or poor, good or bad, it comes for you no matter who you are or what you've done.

When it comes for you, you can only submit to it. Or, be saved by someone at the cost of their life as once death comes, it will leave with a soul. It will only leave with someone else's soul, if they sacrifice themselves to save you.

An example for this can be Jessica Rogue, she in an act of heroism saved the life of her friend at the sacrifice of her own. By pushing her friend out of the way of an oncoming truck, only to get hit herself and die leaving her friend alive.

Those are the rules of death, once it comes it will always leave with a soul. What happens to the soul after death reaps it? It is brought to realm of darkness where it lays dormant until its ready for processing, much like passing through a border into another country.

You wait in line until it's your turn, then you are examined to see if you'll be allowed to pass through. If not you return to the darkness, only this time with no chance of leaving. If so you are reincarnated into a new life, whether you'll be human or not is through chance.

The requirements for passing through is a mystery there have been saints denied passage and devils allowed, it seems to be random. No matter what kind of life you've lead you might end up trapped for eternity in darkness, hope and pray you are let through.

You can reincarnate as any living thing besides plant life. What type of life you'll lead is dependent on what you've done and caused before death, the impact on your world caused by your actions. Good or bad will lead to a good life or a bad life.

It's all quantified into karmic points, with enough karmic points you can receive bonuses such as reincarnating as a human. With more points you can reincarnate as a human with a special ability, and with even more a human with a special ability and your memories intact which is the most favorable.

Jessica Rogue has greatly affected her world in a positive way leaving her with plenty of karmic points, her sacrifice led to her friend living her life until passing of old age. Within that extra time her friend went on to save hundreds of thousands of lives.

When it finally became Jessica's turn she was allowed passage with her memories intact and a random ability, off she went to be reincarnated into a random world. This is the story of what happened and where she ended up, and how she handled it.
