A Rather Large Snake Eats My Car

When you're in Manhattan, you can see a little bit of every weird thing on Earth. Except giant snakes, that's a new one.

So, there I was, seventeen year old junior, Jayce Garzin, walking down the street from the electronics store, Zapped!, my friend works there, so I get discounts galore. Beautiful thing. Sometimes even free games, stuff like that. It's kind of awesome when all you do is work with computers for your entire Junior year.

Anyways, as I went, I could feel the ground tremor, which was weird. Manhattan wasn't the ideal place for an earthquake. I guess the cars felt it too, because car alarms went off all down Fifth Avenue.

Then windows shattered. And, then the ground exploded. A giant snake had, well, I guess popped out of the road, and ate my car in one unhinging of it's jaw. That was scary. It was a nice car, too. An old 1967 Gray Impala, gone in a single snap from Scales and Death. That Impala meant quite a bit to me, and I was kind of disappointed to see it go.

The weird thing is, everyone else was calling it a train, screaming something about how the underground must've exploded. How did they not see a giant snake? I mean really, you can't really miss it.

And suddenly, an overly out of place chariot charged down the road. Giant snakes, chariots, why not? But, still wasn't the wierdest part. The wierdest part was the riders. About twelve teens, fully dressed in Greek battle armor. They held spears and swords like they were the next big fashion statement. And then came the fire. Really big, scary fire.

A girl from the chariot put up her hand, and, BOOM, right in the face of the snake. He clearly didn't enjoy that one, mainly because he was busy finishing up my car, which blew up in his mouth. I thought that should've killed him, but instead, he just looked angry, with a soot outlining like he was busy eating coal. One of the teens raised a bow, and fired, one, two, five arrows? I couldn't count. They just kept flying, hitting one of the eyes. That one must've angered him pretty bad, because his tail lashed out. The buildings around him didn't take that too well, considering their first two floors were demolished.

At this point, I was hiding behind a few Unsquished By Scaly Death cars, watching the rest of the scene unfold. The teenagers dismounted at the same time, readying their spears and swords. One of them jabbed the other eye out as if it was no big deal. He seemed to be bored, as if killing a giant snake was an every day activity. The snake hissed, seeming to disappear from it's skin, turning into golden dust. Then scary fireball lady approached me, another fireball readied. "You saw all of that, didn't you..?" She said. I nodded, staring at her in fear. She clenched her hand into a fist, and the fireball disappeared. "Then you're either a mortal with sight over the Mist, or a Demigod."

"Who and what..? I have no idea what you're talking about." I said, completely puzzled. She drew a bronze knife. Before I could react, she cut my shoulder. I promptly responded, quite manly, if I might add, with, "OW!"

"Definetely Demigod. You're coming with me." She grabbed my arm, dragging me over to the group. "The knife cut him." She said, and the dude that put the snake's eye out walked up to me.

"Too scrawny for Ares," He said.

"Doesn't look like a good sniper," Another said.

"He's kinda cute, he could be Aphrodite.." A third said.

"Hold up, kind of cute?" I said, quite offended.

        "Well, yeah.." She responded, blushing.

"Robin, stop flirting." Miss Scary Fireball said.

"Yes, ma'am." Robin said, slightly scared.

"Anyways, we have to take him to Camp." They all started loading onto the chariot. I tried to climb on, but, it was clearly full. "You can sit on the horses." The girl said.

        "Uh, I can't ride horses."

"DO IT." She yelled. I scrambled onto the horse, terrified. And they started galloping, way faster than a horse should be able to. We were already out of the city, and into the country. We stopped abruptly, and I flew off the horse, landing on my face in the grass. It sounded like Robin giggled. As I sat up, I saw something that kind of terrified me. A purple dragon was wrapped around a tree at the top of a hill, a golden sheet hanging off the lowest branch of the pine.

"Is that.." I couldn't continue talking. Then someone pulled me to my feet, patting my back.

"Keep walking, up the hill," The big dude said. My life was about to get a lot stranger. I mean, the dragon was pretty strange, but, uh, you get my point. Strangeness is coming.
