Christina's POV
"She's gonna die, she's gonna die, SHE'S GONNA DIE!" I said, practically shouting as I frustratingly threw a piece of white cloth to the ground. Amy and I were both wrapping some bandage around our sisters' wounds. Amy succeeded to stop Dani's leg and Lisa's hip from bleeding, but I couldn't get Lauren's head to stop. I have put at least five layers of cloth around her head, but it just isn't enough.
"Did you apply pressure on the wound?" Amy asked me as she crawled towards me, grabbing the few pieces of material that we have left on her way.
"Her head is cracked open, Amy. You can't just apply pressure on it and hope that it's gonna stop the bleeding!" I told her, almost yelling at her. Feeling like I was too nervous and too frustrated to keep trying to bandage my unconscious little sister's head, I decided to sit back and let Amy try to come up with a solution. I brought my hands to my face and that's when I realized that I was crying. No wonder my vision was so blurry, earlier. I then ran my fingers through my long brown hair, took a deep breath, and looked at Lisa's and Dani's limp bodies, on the other side of the room.
"It should've been me." I mumbled, my heart breaking. It's my fault that they're in this state. It's my fault they got shot and stabbed. It's my fault they nearly bled to death. It's my fault Amy got tortured. It's my fault Katherine's being tortured at this moment. If Lauren dies, it's going to be my fault. It should've been me. All of that should've happened to me. I should be the one fighting for my life, not my younger sisters.
"There. That should at least minimize the bleeding." I heard Amy say, which made me snap out of my thoughts. I looked over at where Amy and Lauren were and sighed. Amy glanced at me while she was wiping the blood off her hands with an unused peace of fabric. Lauren's bloody head was on her lap, and Amy tried to not move a lot to keep our younger sibling's head still.
"Are you alright?" my shortest sister asked me, deeply concerned. I looked into her blue/green eyes and as soon as we made eye contact, I started to sob. I put my head in my hands and just let all of my feelings and emotions out.
"I'm sorry, Amy. I'm sorry all of this happened. None of this would've happened if I hadn't gone out with him! It's my fault you're hurt! I'm sorry! Please forgive me!" I apologized, screaming and sobbing at the same time. She must hate me. The sweetest girl I know must hate me so much at this moment. I wouldn't blame her, though. Lauren is most likely going to die soon because of me.
"Christina, I'm not mad at you. Why would you think that?" Amy asked me, after a few minutes of silence. I looked at her and saw some confusion in her eyes. She gave me a slight smile, probably to tell me that she isn't angry with me and that she's willing to listen to me talk.
"Because of what happened to us these past few days." I simply said before I started to choke up again. My eyes were on Lauren's immobile body and noticed that she was getting paler by the second. She's dying because of me. Unless she gets some medical care in the next hour or two, which is not going to happen, my birthday twin is going to be... gone.
"Laur..." I mumbled, hot tears streaming down my flushed cheeks. I watched as Amy looked down at our younger sister, a frown on her face. Amy then bent over and put her lips on Lauren's cheek, giving her a gentle kiss.
"I love you, Laur." I heard Amy say, whispering. When she looked back up, she was in tears. As she wiped off her tears with one of her hands, she started to play with Lauren's hair with the other one.
"We should check on Lisa and Dani as well." I said, a ghost of a smile appearing on my lips when Amy started singing to Lauren, rocking her back and forth. It was such a sweet moment. It's probably the first time I've seen Amy act so motherly. It made me feel a little better.
"Do you wanna go check on them or do you wanna stay with Lauren?" she asked me as she kept mumbling some song lyrics.
"I'll go. Keep singing to Lauren. I'm sure she'd really like what you're singing if she was awake." I told her as I got up, dusting off the back of my pants. Amy grinned at me before she went back to singing and cuddling Lauren. I turned around and slowly made my way to the bed, where Lisa and Dani were resting peacefully. I sat on the edge of the bed, on Lisa's side, and stroke her cheek.
"You guys are going to make it. I promise." I whispered, kissing Lisa's cheek. When I moved away, I was expecting Lisa to wake up, or at least move, but that didn't happen. I sighed and got up. I took a few steps back and observed Lisa. Everything seemed fine with her. She wasn't pale and when I touched her, her skin wasn't cold. The only things that are wrong with her is her stab wound, that could've been prevented if I hadn't gone out with Drew, and the fact that she's unconscious. I sighed and walked over to the other side to check on Dani. As I approached my youngest sister, a small groan escaped her lips.
"Dani?" I said, my voice trailing off. I watched her expression change as she moved her head from left to right. She's waking up. My baby sibling is waking up.
"Chris? What's going on over there?" Amy asked me, still sitting on the floor with Lauren's limp body in her arms. I turned around and gave her a small smile.
"She's waking up!" I happily and excitedly said, a huge grin on my face. I then turned back to Dani, who just raised her arms and stretched them, her eyes still closed. I knelt down besides her and put one of my hands on her forehead.
"Hey, Dan. Wake up." I said, not too loudly because I didn't want to startle her. It took her a little while to respond, but when she finally opened her big green eyes, I nearly screamed with joy. I watched her as she slowly turned her head in my direction. As soon as our eyes met, I started to cry.
"Hi, sweetie." I said, gently grabbing her hand.
"Hey." my youngest sister answered weakly as she smiled at me. I was going to say something else, but was interrupted by the sound of... sirens?
"Did you hear that?" Amy asked me, curiously. I turned around to face and nodded. Are they coming for Drew?
"It sounds like police sirens." Dani commented, quietly. Amy, Dani, and I just glanced at each other as the sirens seem to get closer and closer to the building we're trapped in.
"We're gonna be free, guys. They're coming to save us." I told my two little sisters, a smile on my face. Their eyes were filled with hope and relief, and I realized that Lauren could be saved. She might live after all. I heard several cars park right outside the edifice. I heard some doors open and then slammed shut. They're here for us. We are getting out of this cage.
"WE'VE GOT THE BUILDING SURROUNDED!" I heard one of the officers shout into a megaphone. I grabbed Dani's and Amy's hands and squeezed them tightly.
"We're free, girls." I told them, right before I kissed both of their foreheads. I heard Amy laugh and Dani say something funny.
We kept cheering but immediately stopped when we heard a gunshot. Again.
