It's 6:00 on a beautiful Saturday morning when I am rudely awakened by a loud voice. "Isabel get your ass up. Rebecca will be here at 8 to pick you up." I rolled my green eyes at Greta's nasally voice. "I'm up, I'm up." I yelled back throwing the thin blanket off my body and rolling out of bed.
I observed my reflection in the full-length mirror beside my desk. Deciding there was no way to salvage the messy bun I let my brunette hair fall below my shoulders framing my face. Much better I thought finally standing for the first time today.
I groaned stretching; I was going to a new foster home today. Who knew forging Greta's signature to get a belly button piercing would be the straw that broke the camel's back? What a blessing in disguise, Greta is a grade A bitch.
Although I had packed most of my belongings last night there were a few more items I needed to place in my bag. I took my time gathering the rest of my belongings and then double checked the room just to be sure. Let's just say this isn't my first rodeo, especially when you have had to buy three iPods. That shit gets old quick.
I looked at the clock on my desk noticing I had about 30 minutes before the social worker was here for my brother Michael and me. I know Michael is pissed we are having to relocate for what feels like the hundredth time. He had actually made some pretty good mates at our school here in San Diego. He probably hates me.
Shaking the negative thoughts from my head I carefully waddle down the stairs balancing the 3 bags on my arms. I am a one trip kind of girl and if it requires more then I rope Michael into helping me. I place my bags down in the kitchen and begin to pour myself some fruit loops.
Just as I sat down to eat, Michael waddled into the kitchen with his bags and a frown on his face. I kept my eyes on him as he shuffled around the kitchen making himself a bowl of cereal. He sat down next to me and took a bite of his frosted flakes. As he chewed with his eyed closed his frown disappeared and, in its place, formed a small satisfied smile.
"I'm sorry." I mumbled looking down at my now soggy cereal. I saw Michael shift in his chair from the corner of my eye. I turned to look at him seeing him now facing my direction.
"It's really ok Bells. I was getting tired of this town anyway." He said with a small smile, which I returned. He always knows how to make me feel better.
Michael and I finished our bowls and sat them in the sink just as our social worker, Rebecca, entered the room followed by a pissed Greta.
"Hello Rebecca, long time no see." I smile opening my arms wide for a hug. She rolled her eyes playfully and happily embraced me. Michael and I kept in contact with her while at our placements. She was more of a friend more than anything. She released me and stepped back.
"This isn't really a good reason to see you Isabella." She scolded putting on a show for Greta. She knew we hated her, but Greta was the one person who would find a way to complain on Yelpabout literally anything. Rebecca nodded towards our belongings signaling to put them in the car while her and Greta talked.
Michael and I made our way to her car and I leaned against side as Michael loaded all of our belongings. Greta and Rebecca made their way outside still in conversation. I guess they were arguing because Rebecca finally threw her hands in the air in frustration and began walking to the car.
"I wasn't done talking to you!" Greta yelled to Rebecca. Realizing this was my last chance to ever get on her nerves I smirked and looked at her.
"She obviously is done talking to you." I yelled up to her as I opened my car door. I swear I could see actual steam come out of her ears as she clenched her fists.
"Good riddance bitch." She steamed trying to contain herself. If I were closer, I know she would have slapped the shit out of me. I smirked at her and raised my middle finger into the air as I lowered myself into the car.
"So, where to this time?" I questioned Rebecca.
"This time your off to Sydney." She sighed. Michael and I have been a lot of places but never as big of a city as Sydney.
"I still can't believe you did something so stupid that you got us kicked out of another foster home." Michael said annoyed in the back seat.
"Don't act all high and mighty. You have gotten us kicked out of a good number of homes too." I rolled my eyed putting my headphones in and my music on shuffle.
We had been in the car a little over an hour when Rebecca pulled into the long driveway of a beautiful home.
"Oh my god..." I whispered taking my headphones out staring up at the house in awe. Rebecca pulled the car around to the front and turned it off.
"Welcome to your new home guys." Rebecca said opening her door and getting out.
I got out of the car and ran over to Michael.
"You're seeing what I'm seeing right? I looked at him with wide eyes. He continued staring at the house and nodded. He grabbed the bags out of the boot, and we headed up the large staircase to the front door.
We were almost to the top when my shoe caught on the last step and I fell face first onto the stone paved front porch scraping my palms, knees, and chin.
Rebecca ran to me with a worried look as Michael stood in the background laughing to the point he is in tears. I shot him a glare and then assured Rebecca I was ok before dusting off my palms on my jeans and rubbing my sore chin. My hair fell in my face as a hand was extended to me.
"Thanks Michael." I said as I graciously took it and got to my feet running my unoccupied hand through my hair removing it from my face. Once my view was clear I was met with the most gorgeous blue eyes.
"Im not Michael but you're welcome." The tall blonde boy said with a soft smile releasing my hand. I knew I my face was probably red from embarrassment. He looked at me with a worrisome look.
"What?" I asked in a slight panic, crossing my arms and hugging them to my body closely.
"You're bleeding." He said calmly bringing his thumb to the side of my chin. I winced slightly closing my eyes at the anticipated contact. However, his touch was gentle. I opened my eyes to see him examining my chin closer.
"Nothing we can't fix up." He smiled softly at me and extended his hand. "Let's go inside you can meet my mom while I go get the first aid kit." I took his hand as he led me to where Michael, Rebecca, and I'm assuming the boy's mother were making conversation. Rebecca introduced me to the woman who now I know is Liz. I gave her a wave and a soft smile. Then she noticed my injuries.
"Luke, be a doll and fetch the first aid kit please." She asked the boy as he was leaving the room. He turned towards her and nodded.
"Yes mum." He said smiling then turning towards the door and smirking at me and winking before leaving the room. I felt my cheeks heat up but thankfully no one noticed due to the deep conversation about school.
"Lord please help me..." I sighed quietly to myself.

Hello lovies! I know it's been a while since I have worked on MCSL. I have wanted to get back into it multiple times but I have been so insecure about my writing that I was afraid to. I am in school at the moment so edits will be posted slowly. However, I hope to get a new edited chapter out every Saturday. (Establishing an actual day will hold me accountable).
I hope you enjoyed this updated version. I know for a fact my writing has grown tremendously since 2014 so enjoy
XOXO,
