Chapter four

Simi was lucky. Miss Theresa had pleaded on her behalf so Mr Peter hadn't given her much strokes of the cane though he still made her wash the staff toilet but not for the entire week.

Simi was furious. She was angry at Mr. Peter whom she disliked on a normal basis. She was angry at herself for embarrassing herself in front of the entire class and most of all she was angry at Tobi.

Tobi!!!

Yes! He had been the cause of her dilemma all morning. She wouldn't have been embarrassed, flogged and punished if she hadn't been sulking over him. Not not to mention the heartbreak. She felt like confronting him. She deserved an explanation didn't she? But what if he just cleanly denies it? No, the evidence she had were too solid. Denying it would make him a pathetic liar.

She walked to her class still furious after break. What was worse, they were going to have Geography, a subject she didn't even like.

"Hey Simi. Tobi came looking for you during breaktime." Sharon said as she entered the classroom. Simi just hissed and walked past her. Sharon who was surprised by her friend's action simply shrugged and went quietly to her seat.

Soon the Geography teacher entered the class. Simi brought her notebook out from her bag in preparation for the lesson. A small note fell out. She picked it up from the floor before Seun the class captain shouted, "Class greet!" from somewhere behind the classroom. Everyone rose and greeted the teacher.

"Good afternoon sir!" They chorused.

"Good afternoon students, please have your seats." He said while writing Geography with a black marker on the white board, after ruling the board into two segments.

Simi scanned the note. It was from Tobi. She wanted to crumple it and toss it out in the trashcan. She still wanted remain angry with him. But as she read the note her heart melted.

Why are you such a sucker for love Simi? She asked herself.

Tobi wanted to see her after school at the City Park.

Was he asking her out on a date?

He mentioned how he had been trying to see her all morning and how he had something really nice for her.
