Author's Note

Back when I was applying for university, I had to flesh out my personal statement with my extra curricular interests and that's how LLW came about. It wasn't enough to be someone who read and wrote because anyone could say that. Instead, I had to have something to support that so I wrote a book and published it through a small printing press.

This book meant a lot to me at the time. My writing was rough and unpolished but someone looked at it and thought it (and I, by extension), had potential. For a long time, I'd wanted to be a published author and this was a step in that direction. I was really excited. I learnt a lot. It was my first taste of having an editor and I got to see it go through the publishing process. I had cover art for LLW designed by a real graphic designer and there were other professionals working on it in various different capacities.

However, it was also my first book to have a negative review. Wattpad users have normally always been supportive, which is something I really appreciate about the website and helped me when I was younger. It's different elsewhere. And it sucked to be so excited about my book, waiting anxiously for people to buy it and review it (I was a new name, so sales were slow) and refreshing goodreads over and over to see when I'd finally get my first review. It was a negative one.

Ultimately, I realised I wasn't suited to being a professional writer. I'd much rather write for fun.

In case you're curious about the story, I initially wanted to write a sequel about Conor and Draco a few years down the line. They'd become experienced hunters in their own right and stumbled across a community of other dragons whilst going after a target. For Draco, it's the first time meeting his own kind. And, of course, it happens to be their mating season, something that happens once every decade, and the only way Conor and Draco can stay / get access is if they take part in it, too. Obviously, as dedicated hunters, they make the sacrifice and Draco finds himself overwhelmed by suitors. Conor, in between working on their case, has to choose between letting Draco go or fighting for their relationship.

I stopped liking LLW for a while, though, and scrapped any and all sequels. I still don't feel the same way I do about it but I can't deny this was once important to me.

Thanks for reading it, and especially if you voted and commented. It means a lot. <3
