The plan was simple.

Escape.

Namjoo would run, but not before she stole her information sheet from the captain's files. She had written down every information about her. Her identification number. Her real name. Honestly. Because when she first joined them, she had thought whatever.

Now the case wasn't so simple. They were out to get her and she would not leave a trace behind. She would not let them find her, if possible.

Kim Namjoos were plenty. Hiding among all the names would not be difficult. The only singular thing that mattered most was that information sheet she had filled, because she didn't think she'd come this far. Or that this would happen to her.

To Chorong.

To Junmyeon.

They could discover who she was, too.

They were the police.

Captain Ha kept his files tucked away in a metal cabinet. Each drawer had a lock. Namjoo had seen him tossing the keys inside his desk drawer whenever he needed to look something up.

That morning, the department was empty. She'd come early hoping no one would be around. Even if cameras caught her, they would still lack her personal information if she took the employee sheet. Where would they start looking for her? That was their biggest challenge, because they knew nothing about her.

Namjoo had always been cautious even when she let her guard down around Sehun. He might try to grill Byungwook for answers, but even her ex-lover did not know the truth about her past.

Creeping over to Captain Ha's desk in front of the windows, she opened his drawer. A mess of paper clips, post-its, thumb tacks, pencils – some so worn out they could never be used again. There were loads of black and blue pens; others with caps on, others missing. There was a ruler with strange doodles. Strangely, there was a wrapper belonging to a peanut butter cracker. Behind that a shade of gray.

Bingo!

"What are you doing?"

Namjoo immediately slammed the drawer shut. Her heart banged hard behind her ribs. She looked up into Hasung's face. The member of the triplets was munching on a ham and cheese sandwich.

"It's nothing." Namjoo lied putting her hands on the desk.

His eyes searched the perimeter. Taking a step forward, he lowered his voice, "I overheard a conversation yesterday."

"Huh?"

He gulped down a piece of bread not completely chewed. "Captain Ha was speaking about a new recruit yesterday, because he doesn't believe you came from the academy."

Namjoo's blood ran cold.

Hasung nudged her arm, "He's probably joking around. The old man that he is. Anyway, don't listen to him or his gibberish. I believe you."

Namjoo awkwardly stretched her lips into a failed smile.

"What are you two doing over there?" They turned to find Taewoong walking in. Woonho appeared shortly after him.

One by one the guys came over to form a circle, chatting energetically. Namjoo ended up squashed between them, sharing this unprecedented conversation like she'd always been a regular. She didn't know what to say, what to feel, but laugh and pretend she was one of them.

Today it was more difficult than usual.

"Conference room," Captain Ha called out several minutes later.
