Remember

Evey woke with a start, jerking her head off of the bed. She felt momentary confusion sweep over her as she took in the scene. V, laying in the bed before her, bare neck and shoulders peeking out of the top of his sheets, and her, laying next to the bed. She was practically swimming in one of V's silky black shirts. She had considered going to her room to change, but she couldn't bear to leave his side. She still wasn't sure if he would make it through tonight or the next day or the next. She intended to stay right where she was until he woke up to tell her that everything was fine. That everything was going to be okay.

She ran a hand over her short spiky hair and sighed. At some point the tears had finally dried up and she now just felt empty. Her throat was raw. It bled a bit as she sobbed and maybe screamed that night. Or was it that morning? She wasn't sure what day it was. It was hard to keep track of time underground in the shadow gallery and even harder in the panic of the aftermath of November 5th.

Remember remember the fifth of November.

She always would.
