Audrey's POV

I pick up my suitcase from the baggage claim area and walk over to my mom. My dad is right behind me with my younger siblings. Our plane just landed at the JFK airport in New York. We walk outside the airport and the hot summer air hits me. I look around, taking in all the people and cars. It's so busy. But this is my new life. It's a dream come true.

"Audrey! Are you paying attention?  Are you coming?" My dad asks.

I look over to him. He's loading our bags into a taxi. I snap out of whatever I was in and walk over to him. Dad takes my suitcase and puts it in the trunk. I have a great relationship with my family. We hardly ever fight. It surprises most people because with two younger siblings most people would think we fight. We don't though.

"Audrey! You should sit by me!" My younger brother, Jack says.

I smile and sit next to him. Our families most recent fight was about a month ago when I told everyone we'd have to move to New York. I had auditioned for a local show and the director of that had sent my audition tape to the casting director of Dear Evan Hansen. The casting director showed it to the director and I was asked to be the new Zoe Murphy. I of course said yes and so did my mom. My dad was a bit conflicted on the situation. He didn't want to leave our house in Minnesota but he didn't want to split the family up. And so he said yes and now on July 30th, in three weeks, there will be a new Zoe in Dear Evan Hansen. Me. The ride to our new house in Washington Heights takes an hour. I'm restless the entire way. I can't wait to meet the cast of Dear Evan Hansen! Especially Michael Park because he was in Stranger Things. And Andrew Feldman because he's the same age as me.

"Okay here is your home." The taxi driver says.

I look up from my phone. It's a nice house. I shut my phone off and get out of the car. My dad hands me my suitcase and I follow my mom up the front stairs. She opens the door and we go inside. I hear something running towards us. Suddenly I'm tackling by a fluffy blur.

        "Orpheus!" I exclaim.

He continues licking my face so I push him off me. My grandma comes around the corner.

"Oh good! You're finally here! Now I get to go home and sleep. This dog kept me up all of last night." She laughs.

I smile at her and continue petting Orpheus.

"The boxes have been set in the correct rooms. I think. The moving guys should know where to put them." Grandma continues.

I stop listening to her and start looking around. Orpheus follows right behind me. Every room is full of boxes. Lots of boxes. My dad and sister are the last people inside. My dad talks to my grandma for awhile and then she leaves.

"Audrey! Where's your room?" My sister, Makenna asks.

"Rooms! I'll show everyone to their rooms!" My dad exclaims.

My room is on the top floor. I'm all by myself. The only other room on this floor is a living room. It's not even a room really, just open space. I start unpacking boxes. My bed, dresser, desk and bookshelves are already set up. I set up everything and then I lay down on my bed. I can't believe my life now. It's always been my dream to live in New York and be on Broadway. I grab my phone and start playing my Broadway soundtrack. The first song to play is 'Defying Gravity' from Wicked. I sing along.

"Something has changed within me, something is not the same, I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game"

I take in my new room. I don't know why I still can't believe this is real. It still feels like I'm dreaming. I hear my mom calling my name from downstairs. I pause my music and run down the steps.

"Audrey, I'm going to the store to get some food. Do you want to come?" She asks.

"No thanks Mom. But can you get me yogurt or something? Thanks!" I say.

"Of course I will get you a yogurt, Audrey." My mom says, rolling her eyes. Then she laughs.

I smile and run back to my room. I pull up YouTube on my phone and start watching Trail to Oregon. One of my favorite StarKid musicals. By the time my mom gets back it's almost over. I go downstairs to help make dinner. It's pasta. Nothing super hard to make. Makenna helps set the table and we all start eating.

"You know, I said I wouldn't like New York. But this is actually nice. I miss my friends but I'll make new ones." Makenna says.

Everyone nods in agreement. This is a totally new situation but hopefully it will be a good one.
