Pluviophile
nounA person who loves/takes comfort from rain.
Kristin woke the next day to the rain heavily beating on her window. It was like the rain was demanding to be let in.It was only four in the morning and ironically she didn't have work today so she could've slept till whatever time she desired.Unfortunately,Kristin was the kind of person who'd stay awake until the rain went away.
It wasn't like she hated the rain.In fact, she absolutely loved when it rained. It was a reminiscent of easier days.Days where she didn't have to worry about going to work or keeping her grades up.But days where the smell of her mother's hot chocolate filled the house.Days where her father and her would walk in the rain and she'd listen to stories about his childhood. It reminded her of when she once had a family.
It always seemed to rain when she was at her darkest. She saw it as a sign that every little thing is gonna be alright. She remembered how heavily it rain at her parents funeral and felt a slight weight lift off her shoulders.Somehow everything was going to be okay, she didn't know when, but the reassurance of rain was all she needed.
She was currently seated by her bed room window, watching the rain blur away the rest of the world. With a book on her lap and a hot cup of tea in her hand, she sighed contentedly.Alec Benjamin's voice filled the empty spaces of her house as Kristin found discomfort in a quite house and because she lived alone, she'd usually played music to ease her discomfort.
She stared at the book in front of her, she'd been stuck on the same sentence since she sat down. She was bored and though she loved to read, she wanted something else to do.
Glancing towards her desk, she watched her school books messily scattered. She had been meaning to do some revision before her college started back, but she decided against it as she was too much of a lazy ass to do it.
Closing the book and leaving her cup on the ground, she made her way to the kitchen.
"Might as well eat away my boredom,"she muttered.
The girl searched her kitchen for the next 10 minutes for anything remotely edible.Unfortunately all she found was a stick of butter, milk and a few tea bags. She groaned as she remembered that groceries were supposed to bought this week.
"What a fan-fucking-tastic adult you are,Kristin.Next week you might even forget to shit."
She sighed, checking the time on her phone. It was now 6:30 am and spent the next 30 minutes trying to convince herself that she doesn't need to eat and she could go weeks without food. All she needed was water, right?Right.
Ten minutes later Kristin was on her way to the supermarket, drenched from head to toe.
"Do I really not know how to use an umbrella?"she muttered angrily.
Upon reaching the supermarket she did her best to wring out her wet clothes before entering. She felt embarrassed to enter but she argued with herself that she didn't just walk through rain for nothing.
She almost turned back around when she entered. The supermarket was cold.Actually cold was an understatement since Kristin was also wet.The supermarket was the north pole.
Kristin tugged on her wet jacket, tightly securing it around her as if it was going to provide any source of warmth.Picking up a basket, she expertly made her way around the supermarket, stocking up on snack and packs of ramen as it was the only thing she could make.Once she was satisfied, she made her way to the cashier only to stop half way.
Standing at the cashier stood the one and only,God-like boy.He wasn't alone though.A beautiful brunette stood there, cashing her goods obviously.Kristin dare not move from her spot. She watched closely as the girl reached out and grabbed God-like boy hands, scribbling something on his hands.Feeling like a stalker,Kristin finally came to her senses and walked towards the cashier. She watched as the brunette winked at the boy before walking out of the supermarket.
"Nex-"the boy stopped, looking at the familiar girl in front of him in awe.She looked like a wet dog.
"Wet dogs are cute,"he thought, slightly smiling.
She cleared her throat, setting her basket down.
"Sup',"She said before she could even think.
Amusement shone in the boy's eyes.He picked up the contents of her basket, cashing each one and placing them into a bag.He noticed that she only bought snack and ramen. For that he low-key judged her.
"That'll be $4.95,"he spoke.
He stuck out his hand and Kristin noticed a phone number on his palm. For that she high-key judged him.She quickly handed him a five dollar bill and muttered something about him keeping the change.Grabbing her bag she quickly walked to the door embarrassed of how she looked in front of him.
"He probably thinks I look crazy,"she sighed.
Kristin stepped out the supermarket and noticed that the rain was still falling heavily. She sighed and turned to look for where she left her umbrella. And there Kristin saw her umbrella.Being blown away by the wind. She started to run after it but it blew into the road at the same time a car was coming. You could imagine what happened next.
"How do kids say it nowadays?I hate my life el-oh-el"
