CHARLOTTE CASTERLY IS THE PERSONIFICATION OF SUNSHINE. The girl lights up the small and quaint town of Hawkins. She delivers papers on Sunday morning accompanied by her toolbox of lovely manners and her belt of conversational skills because small talk can be your greatest friend when employed correctly. She bakes cookies on Monday morning for the retirement home at the edge of town and occasionally plays Bingo with the residents. On Friday afternoons, she helps out at Florence the police station and brings sandwiches to the squad of perfunctory police officers. But don't forget, you get too close to sun and you burn. And that same fire is instilled in the core of the Casterly girl. Though it remains dormant, it should not be tested because Lottie's angel eyes can fire glares of condemnation when dared. The sun is a fighter and so is she.
But even the sun hides behind a blanket of darkness. Lottie's smile, her oh-so-beautiful smile hides a secret. Her father had left her and her mother in the small town of Hawkins as he begins a new family in the town over. She tries to block the emotion of sadness from her heart but her mind constantly convinces her that she is to blame for her father's departure. But she plasters on a smile and throws in a laugh so no one would think that the girl with the kindest eyes has cried the most tears.
Because behind every exquisite thing that existed there was something tragic.
