This took longer than I would have liked, but I had to rewrite this at least five times before I just gave up.

On the plus side, I cleared up a lot of stuff I didn't like and finished the next chapter already! (Not sure when I can post it though)

To say Jaden was disappointed would be an understatement.

He trudged along the snowy path leading towards his home, no longer feeling the cold snow seep into his thin shirt, the exhaustion that had nibbled at his consciousness all day long or even his hands that were balled into fists at his side.

All he felt was a sense of emptiness, a void in his heart that held nothing but a faint and slowly growing anger he wasn't sure who it was directed at.

Maybe he was simply angry at himself for messing up what might have been his only chance to fulfill the wish he so desperately needed to have fulfilled.

He had tried his very hardest, begging, crying and eventually even threatening Atticus, yet he hadn't changed his decision and had simply  thrown him out of the shop.

Maybe he was angry at him as well.

Actually, he was almost sure of that which was why he'd taken one of the vials on the shelves in a split-second decision while Atticus hadn't been paying attention.

One of his hands went into the pocket of his jeans where he could feel the outline of the vial, surprisingly warm against his skin.

He didn't know what it was, he didn't know if it was of any use to him, but he had been angry and he had seen these shining flasks almost mocking him and before he could even think about it, his hands had already made the decision for him.

It was fair, he supposed, to steal something precious from Atticus since he had somehow done the same thing by refusing to grant his wish and yet, there was still a part of him that wanted to turn back and return the vial.

But he wouldn't.

His fingers closed around the object, the warmth spreading from his hands to the rest of his body, leaving a strange tingling sensation that gave him goosebumps.

It was probably magic.

Perhaps he could use it for his wish, but then again, he didn't have any clue how or what to do with the vial, so he would probably end up making everything worse than it already was.

A sigh escaped his lips and he raised his head to determine where he was going.

He hadn't paid attention to his surroundings for a while now, keeping his gaze on the ground since he had left the forest, not wanting to face the building that he would undoubtedly see on his way.
