I sing as I walk the path made by me wearing down the plants and earth from walking that path every day. I look in the forest for animals. I need a rabbit's ear for a new spell I'm mastering and rabbit meat is one of my favorites. I hear the crack of a branch and barely spot the brown foot of a rabbit hopping behind a berry bush. I walk over quietly as not to scare it. I sneak up behind it and just as my hands are ready to grab, it hops. I leap forward after in and it hops again. This continues for a few minutes until I eventually catch it. "Dumb animal!" I exclaim as it tries to escape. I carry it the rest of the walk home and store it in a cage by the fire so it doesn't get cold as it is fall. I take off my hood and hang it on a hook by the door. I start a pot of water over the fire. As I'm starting to make some of my favorite soup, there's a knock on the door. I walk over to the door and look through a crack in the wood. "May I help you?" I ask politely. The man at my door is tall and large. He wears a gaurd uniform and he looks like his face is iron. "Open up miss. We've had a complaint and we have reason to believe that you have commited crimes worthy of execution. I fake a gasp and open the door. "Execution? I've done no such things, sir. I put on my most innocent face. He shoves me out of the way and starts to search through my small home. He points at the pot over the fire. "Is that a couldren?" He says coldly. "Umm... That's my dinner, sir." I reply honestly. He changes his point to the rabbit. "Sir, I don't believe it's a crime to hunt rabbits for food." He grunts. He moves slowly around my cottage and through my room. Eventually, he circles back down to the front door. "Thank you for your concern, sir, but I think we can both agree there's nothing here to see." I say with a smile as I escort him to the door and slam it behind him. I sigh and quickly hop to the back of my closten and into a hole in the wall behind a few crates. I check on all my magic and make sure all my important possestions are safe. I wouldn't be ignorant enough not to hide my magic.
