Chapter 26

Two days pass by and Aidan, Evan, and Linda are on their way to the court house, Aidan's heart was jumping out of his chest but at the same time draining into his stomach from the sad news about Jay. Linda didn't want to talk about it, "I told you something was wrong with her, we passed the accident..." "Can we not talk about this right now," "I'm sorry, Aidan, but I told you," "I know, alright? I should've listened to you, I know," Aidan says rubbing his hand on his head, "Don't get frustrated, it's your big day," "You're really making that hard for me," "I'm sorry," "Daddy?" Evan says, "Yes?" "Am I going home with you," Aidan didn't know what to say, "Hopefully son," he says, holding back tears, "No, You will go home with your daddy, Evan," Linda says looking in the rear view mirror and then at Aidan." Linda reaches over to Aidan's shoulder and rubs it to comfort him.

They pull up to the court house and see a huge group of people going in, "That's the jury," Linda said, watching them walk in, Aidan grew even more nervous and wasn't sure of what to say, "That's making me more nervous," "Try not to be," "Linda I feel like throwing up," "Please don't throw up your breakfast on your suit, or in here, or in court," Linda says unlocking the doors, Linda goes to the back seat and gets Evan, Aidan follows and gets out of the passenger side and walks towards the double doors of the lobby, Evan reaches for Aidan, begging to be in his arms, Aidan grabs him and Linda walks beside Aidan and rubs is back, "Let's go do this," Linda says with confidence, a little smile appears on Aidan's face. They walk in the door and Aidan looked around, the scenery made Aidan's heart sink into his stomach further, there was people walking around and holding papers, brief cases, and conversations that were echoing. "Wait right here, I'll be back," Linda says, pointing to the bench that they were walking towards, Aidan watches Lind go through the bigger wooden double doors, he looks around and then he looks down at Evan, Evan looks up at him and he sees tears in Aidan's eyes, Evan wipes them away with his little hand.

Linda comes out of the court room, "Hey I was just--," she stops in her path and sees Aidan's eyes, she bends down to his face, "Don't worry about it, you'll have the life you want soon," Aidan hangs his head down and prays in his head. As she's looking around, she stares into one place and smiles, "Aidan," Linda says with a big smile on her face, "Aidan," Aidan looks up and his eyes widen, he sees his mother standing before him, as she's walking towards him, Aidan gets up from the bench and runs to her and tackles her with love. Tears come to Nikki's eyes and Aidan is crying even harder, "Momma...." "Son..." Linda stands back and sees the miracle happen with her own eyes, she's holding back tears, "Momma?..How?.." he says while hugging her, "You have a wonderful friend over there..." Aidan lets her go, turns around and looks at Linda, "You did this??.." "Yes.. for you, I know you needed her and you loved her very much, so I got in contact with her and--," without letting her finish, Aidan goes up to her and kisses her, he stops, "I can't believe you actually did it," "We'll, it was for you, so I did it," Linda says blushing.

One of the security guards come out and nod at Linda, "It's time," Aidan tightens up and whips his tears, "You ready buddy?" "Yes daddy," Evan says with a smile. Linda, Aidan, Evan and Nikki walk into the court room, all heads turn towards them, the people in the court seats were watching them walk down the front of the court room and taking their seat to wait for the judge to arrive. "All rise! for Judge Jodie," all the people in the court room stand, "You all may have your seat," everyone sits down, the judge looks down at the paper that was already there, "Bring in the inmate," the judge demands, coming from the back, there was Ivy and two guards that escorted her to her side of the court room with her lawyer, Ivy mugs Linda very hard and Linda look directly at her with a smile.

The lawyers on both sides introduce themselves and there started the argument, the first person that Linda was calling tp the stand is Jada, Jada made her statement about when she found Evan, and how she found Evan, "That might not be my son, but I wouldn't want any child to be unsafe, I wouldn't trust her with my kids," Jada said looking at Ivy, she gets heated sitting there with her lawyer, looking up at Jada, "What, It's true, you left the baby trynna get to him," she says pointing at Aidan with her hand, "And you didn't thinking twice that your neighbors were watching you, especially if they heard a crying baby coming from your---," "That's enough!" the judge said, Jada left the stand huffing and puffing, mugging Ivy the way she mugged her. There was a lot of people that testified against Ivy, even her neighbors were there to testify against her, but there was one soul that testified against Aidan. "Calling 'Brian' to the stand," Aidan's head turned round so fast, as Brian was getting up he looked at Aidan, fixing his suit. "Now Brian, what would you say about Aidan's fathering skills?"

Brian clears his throat and flows as the words come to his head, "Well, I think he's not stable enough to take care of that boy, he doesn't even have a job," Aidan's face turns red, " "Did you even know he had a son?" Brian looks at him, "No, he never told me he had a son," "Thank you Brian, you can go back to your seat," says Ivy's lawyer. Brian slowly gets up, he looks at Aidan, Evan and Linda, as he's passing them, "What did he do that for?!" Aidan asks Linda in a hostile, whispering voice, "I don't know, but you two still have things to discuss it looks like."

"We will go to recess and after that we should have results," the judge says looking at the jury, the judge bangs his gavel and gets up from his seat, and so does everyone else. Aidan gets up out of his seat headed straight to Brian, he acts like he doesn't see Aidan, "Yo! What the fuck?!" Aidan says snatching this shoulder to make him face him, " I'm sorry man, I did what I have to do," "You didn't have to fucking do that! You knew I was fighting for my son!" "I'm sorry bro, I needed the money." Aidan was fed up at this point, he didn't care who was around, "Linda, take Evan to the bathroom," Linda saw how serious he was and just did what he said, he grabs Brian by the collar and drags him outside and beats him in front of the court house to the point where he had blood on his fists. By the time Aidan was done, Brian was crawling away from the double doors to get to his car, Aidan watches him as he struggles to get there with his fists balled up and dripping with blood. He turns around and goes back in and spits on Brian's blood that was left on the steps.
