6 Months Before

"I require you presence immediately Tiffany!" A voice shouted over her phone. She hadn't even finished her assignment and she was being called back to base by Terrance. She wouldn't dare contradict him though. She had learned the hard way to fear him from the start.

"I haven't finished carrying out my prior assignment Sir."

"Fine. We will send someone else out to complete it since you seem to be incapable of such!" He hissed over the phone. She cringed. She was going to get the belt for her comment later, but better the belt than the sword for not informing him of her lack of completion. He had killed for less, but seemed to think that she was important. Probably because he had paid for her, whereas the others were constantly needing to be paid. She wasn't a drain on resources like the others.

"Yes Sir. Would you like for me to wait for my replacement."

"What part of immediately do you not understand!" The harsh voice screamed before the signal was cut off. He had hung up on her. Again. Tiffany glanced at the phone before sighing. She had been sent to observe the girl and her brother. She wasn't told why, simply that she needed to report back with her observations, and she did what she was told. She looked over her shoulder as a noise from the house caught her attention. There was blood in the air, but she knew better than to look and ask questions.

A man standing off to the side caught her attention. He was staring at her funny, as though he couldn't quite figure her out. She caught a whiff of a scent that she had never smelt before, something that certainly caught the beasts attention within her. It made the creature yip and howl. It made her feel, odd. She shook her head and decided she had already caused enough trouble for herself by not leaving immediately.

She dreaded this next part, but knew it was necessary. She let the beast take control of her body, shaking in pain from the exertion it took. She never saw any of the others struggle the way she did. But it wasn't her business to ask questions. Questions got her in trouble. She shook her muzzle once in her new form and took off at a steady pace.

She reached the campsite in a matter of an hour. As she attempted to go change, she was kicked off to the side, the beast whimpering in pain.

"That's for being late bitch." Terrance grumbled at her as she got up and limped to the door. "Inside bitch. And shift." He slammed the door shut behind them, locking up. She began the painful process of changing, and moved to grab some clothes from the bed when she was roughly shoved away. She stared at Terrance mutely.

"Clothes will just get in the way of our plans." He said, standing tall over her. She wanted to cower back, but wasn't sure of the punishment that she would receive. "Say something!" She received a slap for her silence, she never could win.

"What would you like me to say sir."

"Ah. So the bitch has a voice." A gruff voice came over the loudspeaker. Tiffany stiffened and glanced around the tent.

"Who's there?" She said meekly, terrified at the thought of being watched by this unknown person.

"Oh don't worry about me doll. I'm here to make sure you fulfill your purpose." The voice oozed with insincerity. It made her want to squirm. "Terrance, you know what needs to be done. Can you do it?" It hardened immediately when speaking to Terrance. She didn't know what to make of the instructions.

"She's passable. I suppose I can get it up long enough to do my duty." Tiffany nearly fainted as she realized what they were talking about. Glancing down told her she was more than passable, and she knew this wasn't what she wanted.

"HELP!" She screamed, immediately taking off towards the tent. A roar sounded directly beside her and she stilled, feeling hands clamp over her arms and throw her towards the bed. She landed and gasped, as 250 pounds of Terrance landed on her 116 pound frame. His eyes were murderous and she realized just how badly she had fucked up.

"Listen here and listen closely." He hissed, his eyes darkening even further, hand clamped over her mouth. "You will do as we say and you will do it silently. You have been chosen for a high honor, to carry the next vessel of the god. He is rising again and will need this vessel to complete his vengeance on those whom imprisoned him. You will lay here and will be silent. Once you are pregnant we will leave you alone. You will be pampered and protected as the vessels mother. Do you understand?" She nodded, and felt the dark closing in.

"Are you sure this is who the god chose?" She heard Terrance scoff, as she turned her head towards the wall, staying completely limp.

She only vaguely heard the answer, something about it had to be them, he was the strongest, and she was the strongest female to be able to properly handled the birth. She was like cattle to them then, not a human with free will. Not that she could honestly expect anything. She was disappointed in herself for not putting up more of a fight, but she didn't want to lose her life. And a life of luxury sounded rather nice after everything else.

The god. She had heard of the story before. She began reciting it in her head as Terrance loomed over her. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to ignore the pain and the sounds. She felt the tears soaking the pillow next to her head, tasted their salty taste as she silently cried.

The god had been wronged by the goddess. She had created creations with free will, which had then threatened all of creation. The god had created creatures in retaliation, so that natural balance was restored, but in turn the goddess had been fed up with his attempts and imprisoned him in the sun, but not before he imprisoned her in the moon. The god was only trying to restore balance in the creations, but the goddess... the goddess...

She lost her train of thought, as Terrance's presence was removed. She thanked the gods that it was over, and she rolled over and covered herself as best she could.

"This will be a nightly occurrence until we confirm a... happy event." Terrance said clinically. "I suggest you be ready for me, or there will be a punishment." She nodded her head and then heard him leave.

This was her prison. This was her hell. And she couldn't wait to be free.

Present day

She nearly cried in relief when she saw the symbol on the test that she had been given. Positive. She was pregnant. The nightly visits could stop. She could go about her life.

At least that is what she had thought. She had gotten pregnant almost right away, and now, nearly 24 weeks in, all was healthy. And she was still as much in prison as she had ever been.

Sure she didn't want for anything, and was given the best consideration. But that didn't make her hell any better. She could not leave. They wouldn't let anyone get near her. They couldn't risk anything with this child. This vessel. And the more she thought about it, the worse she felt. She was putting an innocent child at risk for selfish reasons. This child was going to be the vessel for the god. But the god was seeking vengeance. Retribution. Instead of just balance, like the stories said.

She felt as though she were missing information. For the first time in her life, Tiffany Mallory was asking questions, despite knowing that they could kill her. Asking questions only brought trouble, she knew that. Asking questions got you beat or killed. But they couldn't do either to her right now. She was too important.

She needed an escape. She needed someone to come and get her out of this hell that she was in. She needed someone to help her do right by the life that was growing within her. She needed someone to help explain why she woke up in a cold sweat, feeling as if she had betrayed someone close to her, despite not having any close connections. She needed someone to help her.

But she had no one.
