Holly's Point Of View
When mom opened the door the first thing that hit me was old book smell. That was quickly followed by the smell of a bunch of different plants. As the door swung fully opened I looked around the room. The first thing I saw was the wall to my left. It was covered with books from the floor to the ceiling. That must of been what the book smell was from. All the books looked like they were hundreds of years old. I then turned to my right and in the back corner of the room it looked like there was a cauldron. An actual cauldron.. Looking more to my right I saw a small table right under the window. On this table looked to be a book. The book looked like it was too big to fit on the shelves on the left wall.
My mom was just watching me take everything in. There was so much to see. There were some plants in many different sized pots sitting on that table along with what looked like a crystal ball. Along the right wall were bushels of the plants that were sitting on the table all dried and tied hanging from a little drying rack. A broom was leaning against the wall next another small table that was pushed up against the wall with one chair on each end. On that table set a stack of cards, but they didn't look like ordinary cards.
I looked over at my mother with my mouth hanging open. How could all this have been hidden for so long? She saw the look I was giving her and she just laughed. What kind of things did she do in here? Were all of these books spell books? What spells can I do?
"You believe me now right?" She asked it as a question but it was one that you know she already know the answer to. "I will teach you about spells and magic. Marcella will teach you to fight. Ryan is going to be by your side a lot more now in school."
"Ok." It was all i could really say..I was still taking all this in. Magic, spells, shapeshifting, and Ryan...what was Ryan? "Hey mom, what is Ryan? If you are a witch and Marcella is a shapeshifter.."
"He is Lycan." Lycan..is that like a werewolf? Like a human and wolf? Holy shit..I just can't even comprehend this. Now that I think about it though...it does make a little sense. Ryan had to be gone from school for a month once when we were little. They used the excuse that he was sick, but I didn't think he was just sick. He was gone way too long for that.
"Lets go back down to everyone. It's getting very late. Everyone should head to bed." She walked over to me and hugged me tightly. "You should rest and we can pick up this talk again tomorrow."
"Alright mom." I hugged her back and sighed. This was a lot to think about. We broke from our hug and headed back out of the room. Mom locked the door behind us and we started back down the stairs. Everyone was still sitting around the table. Marcella and Ryan were just talking small talk about random things with school. They both stopped talking once I entered the room.
"So did you like it? I had a hay day the first time mom showed that to me." Marcella was looking at me with a big smile on her face. Just then everyone started talking about normal things like the day had just been normal. Like no fight had happened. Like I never knew I had powers or was part demon. It was kind of nice.
It was about three in the morning and we were still all talking. Then there was a noise coming from the counter. It sounded like something had gotten knocked over. We all were instantly silent and mom got up slowly to go investigate. We all got up and quickly followed her. On the floor was a plastic cup. It looked like it had gotten pushed off the counter. When I looked up on the counter there was a bunny just sitting there looking at us. Why is there a bunny in the kitchen?
"Oh dear.." Mom mumbled next to me. I looked at her confused. What was so terrible about a bunny? We can just catch it and let it go outside.
"Shit." Marcella then swore from behind me and I turned quickly looking at her shocked. She just swore in front of mom.
