The boy sped up, nearly tripping over his own feet but recovering quickly.
Elle sped up to match his speed. They both ran as fast as they could. The duo ran a mile each day to the beach, where they would watch the sunset the run back to their neighboring houses.
'I TOLD YOU' Calum yelled as his feet collided with the sand before Elle by a second.
Calum laid down, looking at the sky above them. He patted the sand next to him. They both panted, out of breath.
'That cloud looks like a frog' He whispered, pulling Elle close to his side.
They have always been like this. Close as you could imagine, they could tell each other anything. They had matching picture frames that said 'best friends til the end' written in alphabet beads accompanied by a picture of the two with front teeth missing and ice cream covered faces.
That's the way it was, Best friends. Right?
