Seven's POV

I haven't seen Jonathan since yesterday. Like, I haven't seen him at all. We've become a little closer over the past year. He would actually talk to me on break or at lunch. I've kinda felt lonely today. It feels weird. It used to not bother me.

I figured out who Billy is. He's apparently become the new Steve. He's pretty much king around here now. I find it funny that he even cared to know my name. He's probably forgotten it by now.

Class finally releases for lunch. I sit in my normal spot. I sit on the hood of my beat up 1972 faded blue Beetle. I'm pretty sure this car was wrecked more than once before I found it. Some days, I think I'm lucky it runs at all. It needs new... everything.

I sit here alone. It's peaceful, but also lonely. I'm lost in my own thoughts and don't hear someone approaching.

"Casey," a familiar voice greets me. I look up to meet a pair of blue eyes that I'm somewhat surprised to see.

"Billy," I say smiling.

"You mind?" He asks motioning beside me.

"Not at all."

He takes a seat beside me. He doesn't say anything for a moment. Then, he smirks and starts to laugh.

"What is it?" I ask.

"Your shirt," he says.

I look down to see what he's talking about. I totally forgot what shirt I put on. I'm wearing the shirt he gave me.

"Oh yeah... I umm..."

"It's cool. Looks good on you."

"Thanks."

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure."

"Wh-What happened to this poor car?"

"I have no idea."

"Cause it looks like it's been wrecked-"

"Probably more than once before I got it. Still runs though... not sure for how much longer, but it still runs."

We continue to talk and laugh for most of lunch. It's really nice. It still feels weird though. He's supposedly very popular, and I'm very much not.

"People say you're pretty much taking Steve's spot at the top of the totem pole around here," I say.

"Yeah," he replies sounding rather proud of himself. "I think King Steve's reign is over".

"So why hang out with someone at the bottom of the totem pole?"

"You mean you?"

"Yeah. Me. Why waste your time on me?"

"Trust me. I'm not wasting my time. You're actually not bad."

"Thanks," I tease him sarcastically.

"Ok. That didn't come out right. You know what I mean."

I notice that just like the other morning, we get some weird looks. Several people whisper and point at us. It's like a king spending his time with a lowly peasant.

Eventually, Billy realizes he needs to be somewhere. He heads off towards the building. Just after he leaves, Steve comes over to my car and sits down.

"Him?" He asks.

"What?"

"Whose shirt is that?"

"Why does that matter?"

"Please just answer the question."

"My knight in a leather jacket."
