You left the course to buy some coffee because the one they had was just not good. Seriously how could a Korean school not have good coffee for their students? Is the least they could have, right? Anyway.. There was a coffee shop near the building where the course was and it was kind of your favorite spot - not that you've been walking around Seoul either, you've practically only went to the course, to the coffee shop and to a mall that you found near the building with the dorms. You were scared, that's the truth, to walk around and get lost. You were not that good with street names and your Korean was definitely not good enough for you to ask for help or directions. So, yeah, you called yourself a chicken for not being brave enough to explore more, but still, the next day, you didn't go either.
The coffee shop was packed, and you hated the lunch rush because of that. It took you about twenty minutes just to get to the cashier and maybe five more to sort out the currency and be able to say exactly what you wanted in Korean. Yes, the girl behind the counter knew you already, and she spoke a little English, but she was fine with waiting for you since you were so hell-bent in learning her language. The other customers though, let me tell you, they were not happy about you taking that long. And you, being anxious and hating that you were making someone else's day harder, always felt so bad about the time it took that you kind of just lower your head and thank the girl as quickly as you could. You sat down at a small table near the window, the one with high chairs that made you feel shorter than you actually was, and just waited. It would be maybe five to ten minutes until your name was called so you stared outside at the people walking by; some were in a rush, others were just walking from place to place, a little girl was running and there was a couple holding hands. You, of course, smiled a little when you saw the couple, you were a hopeless romantic after all and they looked so happy together that you had to look away. It felt wrong, somehow, to stare at their happiness like that. You sighed remembering your ex, he was nice and you were really in love with each other, but sometimes things don't work out and that's that. It didn't make you sad anymore tho, which was good.
Your name was called and you jumped out of the chair, hitting your knee on the leg of the table and pressing your lips together so you didn't curse. You thanked the girl rapidly and left the coffee place, that was too much embarrassment for a day, but for the first time you decided not to go back to the course right away. There was a commotion on the other side of the street, a lot of girls screaming happily and you got curious. You walked over not understanding a lot of what they were saying but getting the gist that there was a band and they were going to have a surprise fan meeting the following week. You waited because there were too many girls and there was a sign-up sheet right there. Apparently there were only 100 or 150 places to meet these people. You didn't expect anything, you probably would get to the front of the line and discover that there were no more available spots left, or that the band was completely unknown to you.
But you were wrong.
When it got to you the page was full, but it hadn't filled up yet. You started to read the page, your eyes going wide as you understood the words, your lips opening with disbelief. It was BTS, you couldn't even believe it. You loved them and it was all because of them that you were there, studying Korean. You signed your Korean name, the one your teacher gave you on the first day of classes, and your real name in parenthesis just because you wanted to do things right. You also put your phone number, since they asked for it on the paper, and smiled at the guy sitting there. You were signing up to see BTS. Live. In a secret and surprise fan meeting. The following week. You just laugh to yourself and ran back to the course, unable to stop smiling.
You spent the whole week thinking about the fan meeting. You got the call to confirm that you were really going and another one so they could write your name properly on the badge. You could not stop yourself from getting way too excited about it. Your friend, the one who came with you from your country, told you it would be incredible. She had gone to a different meeting, just when you guys got there, but that was because she was an ARMY long before you and she had signed up for it months before the trip was even finalized. She didn't say a lot about it but you were sure she had met someone there; she was dying to tell you, too, you could tell, but she didn't for some reason. She was always on her phone, ok that was not new, but always smiling to the phone, always texting someone, and always asking you how to spell certain words; once she asked how to spell, in Korean, the word 'relationship' and you got a little curious about it and asked her why, to which she just giggled a lot and said "Thank you Unnie". You and her have been friends ever since BTS went to your country for a concert and since you were older than her she gotten used to calling you her 'big sister', but always in Korean. You, on the other hand, called her 'younger sister' and didn't even care. She was the first one to say you should definitely go do the course in Seoul, and she was also the first one to make you believe you could be friends with other girls. When she told you she was actually going with you, you felt like you could burst from happiness.
