Chapter Twelve:

The city centre was packed, but Hazel still looked around for MJ and even tried to catch a glimpse of Peter.

Ned and Betty kept whispering to each other, clearly not wanting Hazel to hear or probably even be with them.

Hazel lead the group, hoping she could get them into another building away from the centre. But after minutes of not hearing Betty's mumbles, she turned to see that they were no longer behind her.

"Ned!" Hazel shouted, looking around. She groaned, seeing their figures walk towards a giant Ferris Wheel. "You had one job, Ned." She muttered running after them, "One damn job."

Hazel caught up just as they entered a cart, and she threw herself onto it as well. Betty looked annoyed, but she was sure the girl would thank Hazel later if anything happened.

She sat across from them, leaning back in the basket. Betty leaned towards Ned and started whispering something in his ear, causing him to smile. Hazel closed her eyes, muttering curse words.

They went up and up, and all the way around two times, but on the third they heard screaming coming from the city centre. Hazel leaned forward, scanning the area. They were making their way back up again when the wheel slowed to a stop, whoever was manning the attraction was gone, lost in the sea of people scattering.

The ground rumbled, lurching as it seemed to cave in and a faint figure broke the surface. It looked like lava with a face as it roared, sending sparks flying.

Betty screamed, and Ned muttered what sounded like a prayer. Hazel watched as it grew, splitting the ground as if it was nothing.

"Shit." Hazel muttered, "Shit, Shit, Shit!"

A black blob flew through the sky, and immediately she knew it was Peter. He landed on the side of a building, and his voice echoed in the air, quickly being drowned out by the buildings the monster was currently destroying.

"Help!" Betty screamed out, following by "Is that Spider-Man?"

"No!" Ned yelped, "No, no, it's... i-its the Night Monkey!"

Hazel turned and shot him a look, "Night Monkey?"

He nodded, "Yes!"

Betty looked back out, "Night Monkey! Help!"

"Shh!" Hazel glared at her, "Shut up! Do you really want to catch the wrong persons attention?"

It turns out, she didn't care. Quickly after, Mysterio came shooting out of the air, blasting whatever powers he had at the monster. It was back and fourth until Peter came in, landing at the base of the Ferris wheel. Betty screamed again, jumping up and leaning over the side.

"Help! Night Monkey!" She waved her, "Hey!"

Peter looked up, and she could practically see his expression behind his new mask. The monster turned, already much bigger than when he arose and eyed down them on the Ferris wheel, and all the metal it contained. It began surging towards them, just as Mysterio continued to throw everything at it.

"Look what you did!" Hazel shouted, turning to Ned. "You can't tell anybody about what I'm about to do!"

Ned's eyes widened, "But everyone will see your face."

"What the hell are you two talking about?" Betty snapped.

"You couldn't just watch the opera." Hazel muttered standing up, "The Night Monkey will help you."

"Where are you going?" Betty asked, panic laced in her voice.

Just then, Peter's face appeared. He eyed her down, knowing what she was about to do.
