Opaque Windows are Quite Boring

"Oooowww..." I heard Min groan, "wha- why?"

I glared at him. He was quite the liar but I'd caught him, for you see one cannot simply tackle a ghost to the ground. Ghosts are, in fact, not real. Clearly his species is nothing but a dirty lie he told me to gain my trust; luckily I was smarter than he suspected.

I soon realized that I was now just kind of staring triumphantly at the floor since Min had gotten out from under me during my internal victory monologue. How rude, he could have at least waited till I was done.

"Why are you still laying on the floor?"

I pondered this question. It was a good one.

"I'm here because you moved after I jumped you."

"That's not what jumping someone means..."

"Well it should."

"-Anyways, Why did you attack me?"

A grin spread across my face. I'd gotten him and now I could flaunt my genius.

"Well," I mimicked pushing glasses higher on my nose, "I remember a certain someone saying they were like a ghost but also took it upon themselves to be tangible!"

Min stared at me blankly. I thought he had disassociated and was about to repeat my extremely impressive deduction but he then sighed very heavily.

"I said I had similar abilities to a ghost. Abilities! That implies that I control whether they're active or not!"

"I never paid attention in English so minute details like that go straight over my head."

Min was looking pressed, stressed, and very well dressed while I began to wonder if his resting face was exasperation. He wouldn't have been the first one in my life to have such a strange resting face; both my parents had it. It was comforting to an extent.

"Okay, so," Min's voice also seemed to be pressed, stressed, and very well dressed, "I function as something similar to a ghost, but I vary in concept."

"Ah, that makes more sense. It would be quite bizarre if you were a ghost since they don't exist."

"No no, ghost are real, I'm just not one."

Min glanced to the side and sighed, he kept doing that and I was starting to worry if he had trouble breathing, "Look, I'm kinda on a mission right now but wasn't expecting you to be awake."

My curiosity wasn't as piqued as one would expect but this is because people live in the delusions that every brain works like theirs. You see, whatever interest of mine that had been piqued was not related to Min's mission exposition. I was fascinated by the whole ghost concept and started to wonder in what way did ghosts exist. Did they get stuck in limbo where they are impossible to see from a human perspective unless specific stars align. Or do they stay out of sight on purpose as to not clue the living into the answers about the afterlife. Of course, in my opinion, even if you straight up showed a ghost to all of humanity, people would still disagree about what it means; some will even continue to debate about the existence of such an enigma.

Oh.

Min had been talking the whole time.

I however, was most certainly not listening.

"-So I guess it would be easier if I knocked you out but I'll stick with just having you come with me, alright?"

I blinked and slowly nodding at him. I hoped I hadn't just agreed to anything too time consuming because I had work tomorrow. I could've asked him to repeat but the thought didn't come to me until after Min grabbed my arm and flew out my window. Apparently he could do that.

"Dude!" I couldn't help but sound extremely offended, "you left my clear window open!"

Min started to slow his flight slightly.

"... Did, did you just say 'clear' window?"

"I most definitely did my dear sir, what of it? The window is clear, is it not?"

"I mean, your not wrong, but like why?"

Min had stopped moving at this point and we were simply hovering over the roof of one of my neighbors- I never learned their names. I felt weird talking while being held so I took it upon myself to start wiggling madly. Min made a small squeaking noise and was forced let me go when I kicked him where it hurts; the shins.

I landed semi gracefully on the roof, and while balancing on the pointed roof, struck the 'I'm not mad, just disappointed' pose.

"Close my frickn' window ya heathen!" The pose lied, I was most certainly mad, this man left my window open!

"Ok! Ok! I'm closing the window, jeez!"

Min flicked his wrist down while snapping and the window shut; rather harshly in my opinion. His expression had slowly become more irritated as time progressed; even to the point that I noticed. I started to feel a bit bad. At the end of the day, I honestly didn't mean to annoy people but I can't seem to ever be on the same page as them. We keep reading different goddamn books.

"Ok, the window is closed, happy?" Ok, yeah, he was getting angry. His eyes seemed to have grown to look more onyx than the lighter amber color they were previously.

"Yeah," I spoke with more hesitation than before, "um, thanks for closing my window..."

Min somehow- probably reading my mind like a perv- noticed my shift in mood, closed his eyes, and breathed deeply a few times before letting the tension seep out of his body. He landed on the roof about a yard away from me and opened his eyes to make eye contact- truly one of the worst human inventions.

"Look, kid, I need to get you to the other side quickly so I can finish my mission, do you need to do anything else before we go? I'm already behind schedule but my boss has got a soft spot for me so it'll be fine."

This new soft tone was disgusting and made my face scrunch up. Why does he think he's older than me? I'm 21 and the oldest person I know. Well, my parents are probably older but I don't actually know how old they are, so they don't count.

Ignoring the blatant disrespect, I looked down at my outfit. I had dressed myself for the next day, at 12 in the morning, and was currently donning a loose black t-shirt and jeans with black converse on.  I've had the habit of dressing for the next day before I go to sleep since I was old enough to dress myself, but the shoes were a new one. I think I just forgot to take them off. I patted my back pockets and found my phone in the left one. I turned triumphantly to Min, almost falling- we're still on a roof- before steadying myself.

"I got all the essentials ma'am."

"...I'm a man."

"I don't like to assume."

"You literally just did and got it wrong."

"You'd be a lovely girl though."

Min stared at me for a second before chuckling softly. I squinted threateningly at him. Who does he think he is laughing at me...

"Well if you're all set let's get going, ok?"

Min held out his hand. I looked back at my house before walking towards his outstretched hand and taking hold of his wrist. He blinked at me and then at my hand.

"I'm not touching your clammy fricken' hand."
