That was all she needed and with a deep breath Breanna headed for the door. She ran, mindlessly headed for her old home. Shadows danced among the trees as she followed the path. "Mom, I'm coming!" She called to the breeze and it seemed to pick up as if to add it's speed to her journey.

It wasn't long before she turned the corner and saw the house, but something was off. There weren't any lights on. There were always lights on. She sprinted the finnal distance and went to open the door. It was locked. She shook her head and set the box down as she searched for her keys.

Finnaly she found them and unlocked the door. Everything was silent. "Mom? Dad?" Breanna called in the dark house. She could feel a strange energy wherever she went withing the four walls. Taking a deep breath she sighed. "Well, maybe they just went out on the town. You didn't tell them you were coming." Breanna tried to calm her anxious mind without success.

Hesitantly she headed for her room to wait. She opened the door and it felt almost like a seal had been broken as she opened it. She set the box down on her desk and opened up her window, letting in fresh air. She then cleared off the small dresser in the corner of her room which was messy and covered in items that were unnecessary. Breanna opened the box and smiled, silently thanking her friend. She set up the items creating a small alter for her workings and just as she was almost done she heard a key turn in the front door.

She ran out to meet her family with a big smile on her face, suddenly realizing the extent of which she had missed them but she only met one person. His face was downcast and he had this air of defeat about him. Instantly Breanna's excitement disappeared and was replaced with fear. "Dad?" She barely managed to choke out the words. "What's wrong?"

He looked up suddenly but the emotion on his face did not change. "Your mom is in the hospital. She had a near fatal accident earlier today. The doctor is unsure she is going to make it."

Pain racked through Breanna and then guilt slammed into her. The last time she had been near her mom they had fought and Breanna had left without so much as an "I love you" and she hated herself for it.

Breanna fell to the ground, all sense of the world around her faded out and all she could see was the darkness clouding her mind. Her dad lowered himself down to sit next to her. He gently rubbed Breanna's back in silent support.

He knew that his words would be unable to reach her through the pain. Tears started streaming down Breanna's face. "I need to see her..." Breanna was shocked at how broken and weak her voice sounded.

"I don't think that is a good idea right now... she needs her rest." He said gently and Breanna shook.

"I can't sit here! The last time she saw me I was yelling and pissed! I didn't even...I didn't.." Breanna sobbed and her dad pulled her into his arms like he did when she was little.

"We know you love us. Part of growing up is finding yourself and your own path. Sometimes it isn't easy and we disagree but in the end we are connected and we are family. Nothing can break that." He whispered, as much to himself as to Breanna. She looked up into his eyes and a weak smile came to Breanna for a moment.

"I'm sorry dad, I really am." He squeezed her and smiled softly back putting her at arms length.

"I am too, and I'm glad you came back." His expression changed for a moment as he really looked at her for the first time. Breanna was wearing a flowing purple dress and a triple moon necklace. "You've grown so much in these past few days. I can feel your strength and confidence."

Breanna looked away and stared out the window remembering everything that had happened. "Yeah... yeah I have..." Worry for her mother cut into the memories and yanked her back to reality. I guess life will still have it's ups and downs. All I can do is send her strength. My mom is a pillar of strength. I know she can do this.
