Chapter 3: Being Set Up

After Church, Lily went back to her apartment. She sat down on the couch to watch her favourite T.V show "F.R.I.E.N.D.S"
"Oh hey, Lily. How are you?" Rachel asked.
"I'm fine" she sighed.
"Well, I was thinking that we should go out tonight. Derek has a friend who is single and I thought that I could set you two up."
"Oh, I don't know."
"Come on, you need to have fun. Plus, it will help you forget about that Adam guy."
"OK fine, what's the guy's name?"
"His name is Nic Smith."
"Tell me about him."
"He is twenty. He is studying to become a lawyer and he has a great personality."
"OK, well I have to go to the grocery store to get some food. Do you want anything?"
"No thanks, I'm fine."
Lily grabbed her coat and headed out. Lily parked her bike right in front of the store. She headed straight for the fruit section. She needed to get apples, oranges and berries. She reached over to get the last package of strawberries until someone reached over and grabbed it first. She sighed and went to look at who it was, it was a man who she never saw before. He had piercing blue eyes and dark brown hair. He had a bit of stubble. Lily thought that he was a beautiful human being.
"Uh, Hi. Sorry did you want this?"
"Yes. Yes I did." she said while nodding.
"Here, you can have it."
"It's OK. I can come back another day."
"You should take it."
"OK." She said quietly. They both smiled at each other.
"Bye." he said and walked away.
"Bye." she whispered.
She began to do the rest of her shopping. As she got home, she had a smile on her face. She was sad she didn't get to talk to the guy, or even know his name.
When she got home, Rachel looked excited.
"Are you ready to go shopping?"
"For what? You're outfit for tonight."
"Oh, yeah."
"We're eating at a fancy restaurant and we are going to look fabulous for tonight."
"Are you sure we have enough money?"
"It's OK, I'll pay."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
Rachel is an IT procurement manager, so she makes a little bit more money than Lily. Rachel would always help Lily out financially, so she can have a good career.
Lily grinned.
"OK, let me just put the groceries away. And we'll go."

They were in the shopping mall looking for dresses. Lily had gotten a little black dress that was elegant. Rachel was stuck between two dresses a short, strapless yellow floral dress or a dark blue slip dress.
"Which dress do you think I should where?"
Lily took a second to think.
"I think you should where the blue one. It brings out your eyes."
"OK, I'll buy the blue one then." She smiled.
After Rachel had purchased her dress, they decided to go to Starbucks. Lily got an Iced Cappuccino and Rachel got a Latte.
"So, where are we having our big date?" Lily asked.
"It's in a restaurant not far from here called Mucca Osteria."
"Ooh, sounds nice." Lily said.
It was 5.30 in the evening. Lily and Rachel were getting ready for their date. Lily noticed that her necklace was missing. She called the Parkers'. They took quite a while to answer but eventually somebody picked up the phone.
"Hello? Who's this?"
"Hi, this is Lily."
"Oh, hi. It's Adam. What's up?"
"I was wondering if I had left my necklace in your house this morning."
"OK, I'll have a look around the house and see if I can find it. I'll call you back to let you know if I find it."
"OK, thank you so much."
Lily hung up the phone. She walked to the bathroom and put on her makeup she had dark eyeshadow with a nude coloured lipstick with a nude lip gloss on top. She curled her hair into beach waves. She put on her dress and put on silver heart shaped earrings.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!
Somebody knocked on the door.
"I'll get it!" Lily called out.
Lily opened the door and the person who stood right in front of her was Adam.
"Hey Adam. Come in."
"You look gorgeous. What's the occasion?"
"I have blind date tonight with one of Rachel's friends."
"Whose Rachel?"
My roommate."
"Oh, OK."
"So, did you find my necklace?"
"Yes I did."
He took it out of one of his pockets. And handed it to her.
"Thank you so much. Do you mind putting it on?"
"OK."
Lily turned around and he gently put the necklace around her neck and put the clasp on.
"Thank you."
"No problem."
Rachel walked out of her room.
"Hi." she said,
"Hi." Adam answered. (Like "Hi" is a question lol.
"Whose this?" Rachel asked Lily.
"This is Adam.Adam, this is Rachel."
"Nice to meet you." she said
"I should be getting home now."
"OK."
Lily opened the door and Adam left.
Rachel walked out of her bedroom.
"Was that the Adam you were talking about earlier on today?"
"Yes."
"Oh... He's kinda cute."
Lily laughed.
"Why was he here."
"I lost my necklace and he found it for me."
"Oh, OK. Well, are you ready to go?"
"Yes, I just need to get my shoes."
"OK."
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
Rachel opened the door. It was Derek and Nic. They were wearing suits. Derek was dark skinned and had an earring on his on his left ear. He had brown eyes and he was quite tall. He had a big chest.
"Hi, Rachel." Derek said. He hugged her and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
"Hey Nic." Rachel said.
Lily walked in, she saw the two men. She looked at Nic, she realized that he was the guy that she was talking to in the grocery store. She smiled and said.
"Hello."
"Hey, this Nic."
"Hey, nice to meet you." He shook her hand.
